Main purpose of the position:
To plan, manage and co-ordinate physical security and ensuring optimal safety and protection of the SABC assets and people. To ensure NKP compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effective planning and control of the physical security
- Effective planning to minimise security risks and efficient safeguarding of assets.
- Manage and monitor the physical security
- Ensure NKP Compliance by outsourced security service provider
- Ensure that the standard of the contractor complies with the standard and policies set by the SABC.
- Manage the fixed asset system of Protection services to ensure that the asset register is timeously updated
- Monitoring of the access control system and providing information thereof, when necessary and monitoring equipment upkeep.
- Ensure that JPC meetings are convened as scheduled.
- Effective interaction with all the relevant NKP role-players
- Ensure that the access control system is functional and providing reports when necessary
- Ensuring maintenance and checks of fire equipment
- Provide accurate monthly Security reports reflecting the status of physical security
- Proper representation of the Provincial 2x NKP installations in Security Officer’s Leadership Forums (SOLF)
- Keep all emergency related plans up to date as per NKP requirements.
- Ensure accurate office administration in accordance with instructions and relevant SOP’s/procedures.
- Identify risks aligned to security and provide input for risk mitigating factors.
- Adherence to SABC security related processes
- Adherence to NKP Act and requirements
- Ensure that no deviation occur which can be to the detriment of the SABC.
- Effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with all relevant NKP external stakeholders and role-players Providing guidance, mentorship and coaching to the outsourced security where necessary.
- Skills transfer for security monitoring systems .
INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma in Security Management
- 3-5 years’ experience in security environment
- Understanding of the different role players within the Security Sector
- Understanding of applicable legislative and regulations
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of what is expected in the Security field
- Good knowledge of the relevant systems.
- NKP Compliance aligned to OHS standards

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To identify, initiate, investigate, research, plan and record relevant material from stories that are complex in nature and to produce news reports in Setswana and English or Afrikaans that are fair, accurate and compelling to target audiences
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Initiate and cover stories as assigned or commissioned in at least two languages.
- Provide quality scripts and clear voice-overs, including on-air broadcasts.
- Investigate and break stories and follow them through to final product before broadcast.
- Maintain special focus areas (such as crime etc).
- Give informative and well-researched input to live Radio Current Affairs and TV News programmes and debates, package stories for News and Current Affairs programmes and do live crossings into News Bulletins.
- Check facts, accuracy and quality of stories.
- Set up interviews and lead discussions for broadcast, including crossovers.
- Meet story deadlines.
- Keep abreast of news events / developments.
- Obtain broadcast quality audio-visuals using relevant recording equipment.
- Adhere to South Africa’s Constitution, all broadcasting and other legislation, ICASA’s licence conditions and regulations, the BCCSA and Press Council codes of conduct, including rulings, the SABC Editorial Policies, News and Current Affairs style-guide and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
- National Diploma / Degree in Journalism or Media Studies or equivalent qualification (NQF 6 / 7)
- 5 years’ experience in general News and Current Affairs reporting
- Understand legislation and regulations impacting broadcasting
- Sound understanding of current trends in the social, economic and political environment
- Computer literacy
- Ability to interact and manage different role-players / stakeholders at various levels
- Understanding and professional use of multi-media platforms
- Excellent command of both written and spoken (Afrikaans & English) language of Radio and TV News and Current Affairs to optimise the impact of editorial content
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of News and Current Affairs production processes and systems

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To identify, initiate, investigate, research and produce incisive journalism in English AND Setswana or Afrikaans that is fair, accurate and compelling in accordance with SABC News and Current Affairs’ editorial objectives and the public broadcasting mandate.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conceptualise and produce stories for News and Current Affairs across platforms in accordance with SABC News’ editorial objectives and public mandate.
- Present and produce a weekly diary of proposed stories to the Editor/s.
- Conduct interviews and provide in-depth and comprehensive treatment of stories for SABC News’ broadcasting and digital publishing platforms.
- To stand in/act on the desk when the Assignment Editor is off or on leave.
- Provide story leads to Editor/s, break evidence-based stories, and coordinate interviews for various News and Current Affairs platforms as required.
- Attend diary meetings and contribute to editorial discussions on self-initiated and other stories.
- Conduct primary investigations for original, incisive, and compelling content.
- Professionally live Tweet coverage of breaking and rolling events and stories.

- A well-established and active digital media presence.
- Proven track record of exceptional of journalistic performance.

Main Purpose of the position
To source and provide quality news copy that accurately reflects the latest news events regionally, continentally and internationally, in order to attract and retain the various targeted audiences
Key Accountabilities:
- Identify leading news stories for target audiences across all language platforms on Channel Africa.
- Ensure the overall quality and accuracy of news content, language and regional context, style and flavour – that meets the SABC’s ethical, editorial and production standards.
- Ensure accuracy, impartiality and on-time delivery of news for various Channel Africa audiences
- Ensure a thorough and well informed approach to covering activities and events in all regional blocs on the continent
- Liaise with reporters and search news sources for breaking stories, fresh angles and updates on stories.
- Rewrite copy from the newsroom and other sources within tight deadlines.
- Produce voice reports where necessary.
- Contribute content for online publication.
- Seek/give advice on the delivery of top stories.
- Manage, coach and mentor junior news desk staff.

Requirements:
- Degree or National Diploma in Journalism or related field (NQF6)
- 3-5 years’ experience in a news broadcasting environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of broadcast standards, Policies and SOP’s.
- Advanced understanding of SABC broadcast operations
- Excellent English communication (including writing) skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Good understanding of equipment and facilities within a broadcast environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of transmission chain.
- Knowledge and understanding of play-out and recording system e.g. Dalet or Dira!
- Sound understanding of current trends and issues in the social, economic and political environment on the African continent.
- Ability to work with people of diverse languages and cultures.
