MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To lead, support, guide, and instil a client-centric, service-based culture into a team ensuring accountability for delivery of services on SABC platforms. Delivering excellent client service and developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage the process of airtime schedule and ensure timeous delivery of services.
- Processing of all requests from approval to delivery.
- Provide weekly/monthly operational reports to the Airtime Manager.
- Focus on mitigation factors for revenue loss reduction attributable to system or staff inefficiencies.
- Work in conjunction with linear and non-linear platforms to best maximise break patterns and audience efficiencies.
- Conduct schedule quality checks and ensure transmission readiness.
- Develop the capability of team members on processes and systems.
- Ensure the teams operate within the SABC’ standard policies and regulations.
- Monitor and ensure effective use of available resources.
- Effective implementation of a Performance Management System in accordance with organizational policy and procedures.
- Mentoring and coaching for succession planning.
- Develop business unit staff members.
- Provide direction on the retention and attraction of staff.
- Manage the employee relations to ensure conducive and productive working environment.
- Oversee the implementation of organizational development initiative i.e. Wellness, Employment Equity, Career Progression, Talent Management, and Human Capital Planning etc.
- Direct, manage and develop the Airtime Management Team
- Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions under pressure.
- Responsible for the day to day functioning of the team.
- Provide support in reaching the division’s yield management objectives, through optimal inventory management in line with programme price.
- Establish and maintain internal and external client relations through excellent client service.
- Ability to manage relationships across hierarchy and unit boundaries.
- Willingness to share information and provide training to stakeholders.
- Optimise inventory in line with ICASA mandates and channel restrictions.
- Manage Compliance to legislation mandates and internal policies.
- Adherence to file plan management processes/system
- Implement Risk Management Plan and Internal Risk Audit.
- Review and Report on the achievement and challenges of business units objectives. (Monthly, quarterly and annually).
- Well-developed knowledge of governance and organizational processes.
REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in Marketing/Advertising/Communications/Media studies / Information Technology or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience in sales operations/ bookings/ scheduling and traffic in media broadcasting. Knowledge of booking and planning systems as used in the advertising and broadcasting industry.
- Leadership development qualification will be an added advantage.

Main purpose of the position

Key accountabilities
- Achieve set targets by client within the given portfolio:
- Identify and exploit new business opportunities
- Develop tailor-made sales opportunities and deals
- Prepare and negotiate all sales deals including renewals and renegotiations within the parameters of the governance prescripts.
- offer a 360-degree solution across all platforms to address client’s needs
- Package and sell sponsorable programmes on respective platforms.
- Develop innovative sponsorship opportunities
- Educate client on all organisational platforms on a regular basis

Qualifications and experience
