MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To assist the Supervisor: Fixed Assets with the maintenance of SABC's fixed asset register in compliance with the SABC fixed assets policy as well as legislative and regulatory frameworks.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Identify assets as well as tag assets according to the bar-code allocations.
- Identify the location of assets and update the relevant schedules for submission to the Administrator.
- Trace abandoned assets to user’s locations / storerooms and submit the file of all scanned assets to the administrator.
- Count assets and conduct physical asset verification in areas to which assigned.
- Assess the condition of assets, update the relevant schedules and provide feedback to the Administrator.
- Filing of signed schedules both electronically and physically.
- Verify assets in the storage areas and provide an update the asset schedules to administrator for asset disposal.
- Assist the administrator with tagging new assets.
- Assist the administrator to capitalise minor projects.
- Resolves all verification queries from administrators and Supervisors.
- Perform adhoc assignments as per operational requirements.
- Liase with end users to plan and schedule assets verification.
- Provide the end user with signed verification forms
- Timeous resolution of fixed assets related queries.
- Understanding and applying of all relevant statutes, PFMA, accounting policies relating to Assets, SOP, Supply Chain Management processes relating to asset acquisition and disposal of assets.
- Resolve audit findings as directed by the Manager or Supervisor.
- Continuously inform/advise/update all employees on policies, procedures and new developments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• National diploma or Degree in accounting or relevant qualification
• Minimum of 1-year financial accounting / fixed assets experience
• Proficiency in basic MS Excel, Word
• Proactive and have integrity
• Numerical ability and good attention to detail
• Teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Adherence to strict deadlines and PFMA
