CLAIMS ADMINISTRATOR

CLAIMS ADMINISTRATOR
PERMANENT POSITION

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The main purpose of this position is to provide core administration support to the administrative function of the Fidelity Fund and to manage and monitor the claims submitted against the Fidelity Fund.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Responsible for the general administration, analysing and processing of the fidelity fund historical claims
- Analyse all claims and report to the Legal Manager on the status of such claims
- Ensure that all required information has been submitted accurately for claims processing
- Compile continuous progress and status reports on old and new claims against the Fidelity Fund
- Register and process new claims against the Fidelity Fund
- Provide admin support to the Fidelity Fund Committee and the Chairperson of that Committee
- Investigate potential fraudulent claims
- Adhere to legal requirements, regulations and quality standards set by the Board
- Draft submissions for rejection or approval of claims based on analysis of claims made.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- An understanding of Word, Excel and basic computer network systems
- An ability to understand the Sheriffs’ Act as well as well as basic legislation governing the profession
- Good communication skills – verbal, written and telephonic
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to manage relationships between and within different operational paradigms
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12
- Degree/Advanced Diploma in Financial Management/Accounting or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a financial and/or Compliance/ administration management environment
- Administrative support experience will be an advantage

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The main purpose of this position is to conduct investigations into complaints against sheriffs in terms of the Sheriffs Act, regulations and the Code of Conduct and to assist generally in the Legal division. As the Complaints Officer, you are required to supervise the activities of two staff members within the complaints division.

- Solid understanding of public sector processes and public sector administrative procedures
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with accounting and financial procedures
- Understanding of forensic auditing procedures
- Knowledge of the Sheriff’s Act, Regulations, Code of Conduct and supporting legislation applicable to the sheriffs’ profession including the management and operations of trust accounts and

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Legal, Claims & Complaints Department with the successful running of the department.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Attend to all day-to-day legal administration and enquiries from attorneys
- Receive, screen and register new litigation matters
- Allocate new legal matters to the approved panel of attorneys of the SABFS upon instruction from Legal, Claims & Complaints Manager
- Follow up with the instructed firm of attorneys to provide the SABFS with monthly progress reports
- Assist with the appointment of chairperson(s) for disciplinary hearings from our approved panel of chairpersons
- Assist with the appointment of Ad hoc Sheriffs to serve the charge letters and/or notice of set downs on the respective sheriffs.
- Arrange logistics for disciplinary hearings which includes but is not limited to securing a venue for the disciplinary hearing, travelling and accommodation for all parties involved in the respective disciplinary hearings and/or the appointment of a stenographer for the respective disciplinary hearings etc.
- Copy and prepare briefs for the instructed attorneys and/or chairperson of the disciplinary hearings
- Draft legal payment memorandums and follow up of payments with the finance department
- Update physical and electronical Legal folders
