IT TECHNICIAN / PROJECT MANAGER
6-month contract position
Location: Head Office (Midrand)
Remuneration: Market Related
The South African Board for Sheriffs (SABFS) is responsible for the maintenance of the esteem of, the enhancement of the status of, and the improvement of the standard of training of and functions performed by sheriffs, in a manner that enhances access to justice.
The Board seeks to appoint a progressive, service-oriented, and results-driven individual to effectively provide IT technical & project management services to the SABFS.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The main purpose of the IT Technician / Project Manager is to manage the SABFS internal IT matters and Modernization project from inception to successful completion.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Project manage the SABFS Modernisation project
• Oversee the Business Analyst – procurement and delivery
• Report to Board project steering committee on a bi-weekly basis on project progress and development
• Input and oversee the creation of the Modernisation business case
• Attend to stakeholder and possible donor engagements to ensure that project appropriately resourced.
• Review project timeline and delivery based on developments and progress
• Present project updates to board, staff and stakeholders when necessary
• SABFS General IT matters.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Sound experience and knowledge of the system development lifecycle processes and methods, from business concept to deployment stages and tools such as JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint.
- Experienced in Agile and Scrum Methodology with associated Tool experience such as JIRA,
- Project skills and Project Management Tool experience e.g., PPO

- Sound complex project management work experience required
- Experience managing large software implementation projects required and key project leadership / project management
- Skilled at leading and coordinating across diverse teams to achieve desired outcomes
- Capable of facilitating with teams i.e. design sessions, conflict resolutions, brainstorming etc.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Relevant IT qualification
- Minimum 4 to 6 years IT Project Management practice
- Proven hands-on experience in managing medium to large projects
- 2 to 3 years in leadership or management role (preferably in IT)
- Managed at least 5 IT or IT related projects through the complete project management lifecycle
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from Project Management Institute
- Deep understanding and experience of IT Project Management methodologies
- Proven track record of delivering business application and infrastructure projects
- Ability to develop Business Cases or Feasibility studies to justify initiatives for approval by the Project Steering Committee
- Ability to align the IT Projects being executed to Business Requirements throughout the programs and projects lifecycle
- Attention to detail and working to deadlines essential
- Sound understanding of the IT landscape, including systemic understanding of key business linkages and dependencies
