SOUTH AFRICAN BOARD FOR SHERIFFS
HR OFFICER
Duration: 6-month Contract
Location: Midrand, Gauteng
Remuneration: Market related
The South African Board for Sheriffs (SABFS) is responsible for the maintenance of the esteem of, the enhancement of the status of, and the improvement of the standard of training of and functions performed by sheriffs, in a manner that enhances access to justice.
The Board seeks to appoint a progressive, service-oriented and results-driven individual to effectively provide innovative, cost-effective and value-added HR and auxiliary services to the SABFS.
This position reports to Manager: HR & Auxiliary Services
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
The below highlights the key areas of focus but is not limited to:
General Human Resource Management
- Develop and implement induction / orientation programme for new appointees
- Maintaining employee records and load onto SharePoint
- Assist in drafting/updating job description
Personnel Administration
- Recruitment and Selection (in terms of the policy)
- Assist with secretarial duties during the interviews
- Assist Human Resources And Auxiliary Services Manager in drafting quarterly report
Management of Human Resource Development
- Assist in developing an annual human resource development plan
- Monitor the training and development programmes
- Assist Human Resources and Auxiliary Services Manager in the process of performance appraisals in ensuring that the process is done.
Employee relations
- Assist in establishing and maintaining effective communication on issues affecting staff
- Assist in developing and implementing programmes to ensure that the relationship with staff representative is on a healthy footing
Leave Administration
- Receive and file all leave forms from Finance Administrator
- Monthly audit leave
- Ensure that Employee complete and submit their leave forms for each and every day they are absent from work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proven experience in human resource management
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Action-oriented: able to take tasks to completion; excellent project management skills
- Meticulous, with high attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills
- Sound knowledge of all relevant legislation
- Able to maintain a very high degree of confidentiality
- Able to work well in a team
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Matric + 3 years diploma/degree in Human Resources Management.
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in human resources,
- Additional training/certification in payroll management would be an advantage
- High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
- Valid driver’s license
