Assistant Director: Finance (SL9) x 1 Post (Permanent)

Salary Range: R376 596.00—R443 601.00

 
Requirements: A recognized undergraduate qualification/Bachelor’s degree/ National Diploma in Financial Accounting, Cost and Management accounting and/or Financial Management or equivalent qualification. At least 5 years work experience in financial accounting/management environment. Further skills and competency requirements relates to strategic capability and leadership, problem solving and analysis, technical proficiency, quality management,  financial planning and reporting communication management and people management and empowerment. This is a middle management position that requires a dynamic individual, who is service delivery orientated, customer focused, maintains high integrity and is able to perform in a team environment. Good computer skills. Candidates must be willing to work irregular hours and be committed to meet deadlines within tight time-frames. Knowledge in pastel will be an advantage.  A valid driver’s license.
 
 
Key Performance Areas: Assist in performing financial planning, budgeting and reporting; Assist in managing key stakeholders, inclusive of the   Department of Higher Education and Training, the Auditor-General of South Africa, and  SETAs; Perform monthly and annual financial closure processes;  compile  cash flow ,  interim and annual financial statement , audit files for use during audit processes; quarterly and monthly financial management reports; stakeholder financial reports and ad hoc financial management reports; Approval and monitoring of expenditure and reporting as per the set targets and monitor the clearing of misallocation and suspense account ; Manage, support and monitor Reconciliation for different systems; Perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting and recordkeeping functions; ensure effective debtors management; Ensure income is collected from various stakeholders; Ensure assets register is maintained reconciled on monthly basis. Manage and supervise staff in the unit; conduct performance appraisal with unit staff and arrange individual development.

Requirements: A recognised three year tertiary qualification in Auditing discipline plus three years hands on experience in Audit and Risk Management. A post graduate qualification would be an added advantage. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to inform or influence specific audiences. Sound interpersonal skills, situational awareness and emotional intelligence with an ability to appropriately adapt personal and leadership styles. Ability to collaborate with, influence and engage multiple key stakeholders. Initiative and ability to work unsupervised. Ability to implement, monitor and report on frameworks, risks and incidents across multiple divisions.  Demonstrated ability to think, plan and act independently / strategically. Ability to collect, analyse and present risk management and compliance data in line with the college’s periodic reporting and governance structures. Strong drive, initiative and ownership of issues. Results focussed and deadline responsive. Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment. Good computer skills and a valid driver’s licence.
 
Key Performance Areas: Conduct audit planning and reporting activities according to established policies Develop, review and implement audit and risk management policies and framework. Develop audit procedures, responsible for audit and risk management across the college, reporting risks to the management, audit & Risk committee and advising on how to mitigate these risks; embed a risk focused culture across the college in order to drive planning and decision making; ensure that the College has effective systems, procedures and controls in place for compliance purposes. Serve as a Liaison during external Audits. Supervise audit team to ensure quality and on-time delivery. Coordinate with team to review audit findings. Discuss with management audit observations, recommendations and actions to be taken. Analyse and resolve audit issues in a timely fashion; develop and monitor audit action plan, evaluate and enhance internal controls to improve operational efficiency; Conduct education and awareness on risk management.

Key Performance Areas: Manage the capturing of student registration forms and filing for easy retrieval during verification and audit. Update student information on the information management system. Ensure capturing of student marks and attendance. Manage the issuing of results and certificates. Provide statistical information relevant to the campus (Students data, certification and retention rate etc.). Responsible for the administration of COLTECH system within the campus. Assist the campus manager with the preparation of monitoring and evaluation reports. Responsible for receiving, distribution, collection, dispatching and safekeeping of exam material. Administer all NSFAS matters at Campus level. Manage the performance of clerical staff within the section. Ensure proper implementation of policies and prescripts relevant to the section and college.

Key Performance Areas: Source quotations for the college, capture purchase orders on the system, e-mail purchase orders to suppliers, prepare monthly reports in line with their duties, manage incoming and outgoing register, render processes on inventory support within the College and to provide records management services.

Client orientation and customer focus, presentation, analytical, communication and numeracy skills.
 
Key Performance Areas: Provide circulation desk services. Provide reference and information services. Compile statistics. Provide administrative duties and assist in photocopying.
