Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) is a newly established university providing holistic Health Sciences Education, situated at Garankuwa. The following position is currently available. 
 
PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (1 POST) 
REF: 38/2019/NGM/P5/6 
 
 
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for teaching and learning, research and community engagement and to provide support to the department/school in pursuit of its academic objectives. Responsibilities may also include curriculum development, student academic development, administration, quality assurance, clinical training/work integrated learning, academic management, health and safety management and the development of research capacity within the department/school in order to contribute to the academic initiatives undertaken by the department/school and must meet the requirements, competencies and be responsible for the following key performance areas below: 
 
REQUIREMENTS
PROFESSOR
 An appropriate PhD in Computer Science or Information Technology degree or equivalent 
 Eight (8) to ten (10) years for full Professor in teaching and learning, community engagement and research 
 A research track record with publications in accredited journals 
 A track record of postgraduate student supervision and throughput 
 A track record of lecturing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels 
 A track record of involvement in curriculum development 
 Demonstration of innovation in the discipline will be an added advantage 
 Community engagement 
 Administration at programme and module level 
 A team player 
 
 
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR 
 An appropriate PhD in Computer Science or Information Technology degree or equivalent 
 Five (5) years to seven (7) years in teaching and learning, community engagement and research 
 A research track record with publications in accredited journals 
 A track record of postgraduate student supervision and throughput 
 A track record of lecturing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels 
 A track record of involvement in curriculum development 
 Demonstration of innovation in the discipline will be an added advantage 
 Community engagement 
 Administration at programme and module level 
 A team player
