Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) is a newly established university providing holistic Health Sciences Education, situated at Garankuwa. The following position is currently available.
PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (1 POST)
REF: 38/2019/NGM/P5/6
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for teaching and learning, research and community engagement and to provide support to the department/school in pursuit of its academic objectives. Responsibilities may also include curriculum development, student academic development, administration, quality assurance, clinical training/work integrated learning, academic management, health and safety management and the development of research capacity within the department/school in order to contribute to the academic initiatives undertaken by the department/school and must meet the requirements, competencies and be responsible for the following key performance areas below:
REQUIREMENTS
PROFESSOR
An appropriate PhD in Computer Science or Information Technology degree or equivalent
Eight (8) to ten (10) years for full Professor in teaching and learning, community engagement and research
A research track record with publications in accredited journals
A track record of postgraduate student supervision and throughput
A track record of lecturing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
A track record of involvement in curriculum development
Demonstration of innovation in the discipline will be an added advantage
Community engagement
Administration at programme and module level
A team player
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
An appropriate PhD in Computer Science or Information Technology degree or equivalent
Five (5) years to seven (7) years in teaching and learning, community engagement and research
A research track record with publications in accredited journals
A track record of postgraduate student supervision and throughput
A track record of lecturing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
A track record of involvement in curriculum development
Demonstration of innovation in the discipline will be an added advantage
