Purpose of Job

Key Accountabilities
Execute appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and control systems. Implement technical solutions based on practical and theoretical knowledge to multi-disciplinary project teams. Participate in upgrading instruments and installing new instrument and control systems for assigned projects. Examine existing instrumentation and control engineering criteria to determine necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated instruments. Provide technical inputs and recommendations to install, upgrade, or enhance new or existing instruments. Adjust control systems and perform operational tests of items for specified performance characteristics. Utilise accurate Distributed Control System (DCS) techniques to enhance performance. Conduct Failure Trend Analysis (FTA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Propose ways to prevent future failure occurrences and modifications to procedures. Use predictive maintenance processes to identify and mitigate risks and avoid backlogs. Investigate and report incidents within set of guidelines. Carry out immediate corrective actions. Gather, track, and analyse graphs and statistical information. Generate reports and submit them to project teams. Manage administrative and documentation requirements for tasks such as configuration backups, software revisions, downloading configuration changes, graphics development and modification, and implementing software changes of design. Comply with condition monitoring programmes, engineering governance bodies, engineering standard operating procedures, and engineering principles and legislations. Apply evidence-based SHE practices in alignment with set standards for safe operations. Implement Sasol Group's risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework. Build and maintain positive relationships with team members and other relevant stakeholders to optimise the reliability and availability of instruments and control systems. Purpose of Job
This position is for a Artisan Gr 2 Diesel Mechanic up to Specialist level. Appointment of successful candidates will be done in line with the relevant MSP career path.
Support electricity generation through maintenance on 18 stationary marine type internal combustion engines, utilizing natural gas as fuel and generating electricity by means of a directly coupled generator. 
Maintenance is conducted as per an outage plan and breakdowns, whilst adhering to Sasol codes and procedures.  Maintenance activities can include, but is not limited to maintenance on piston and connecting rod assemblies, lube oil pumps, cylinder heads, turbos, etc, as per an agreed upon schedule.
The successful candidate will directly report to the mechanical maintenance foreman, working together with other mechanical artisans.  The position is permanent at the SGEPP site, with no traveling or shift work required.  Standby duties will be required as per set schedule.  Position may require overtime in incidents of plant upsets, or major engine overhauls.
 
Key Accountabilities
Overhaul of Wärtsilä 20V34SG gas engines as per Quality control plan, together with an execution team. Overhaul of Napier 347 marine turbos, together with an execution team. Service and repair of individual engine components, as per agreed quality control plan and schedule. Faultfinding on engine components and related repairs. Replacement of damaged parts that are beyond repair. Fault finding and related repairs on gas systems and components. Faultfinding and related repairs on compressed air systems and components Maintenance on engine flexible couplings. Lifting of heavy equipment via overhead crane.

  • Appointment and management of Implementation Partners identified for the execution of CSI programmes in line with Sasol’s Supply Chain and governance processes.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of programmes, ensuring milestones are met, on time and within budget and the desired impact is achieved.
  • Assessment of the impact, benefit and sustainability of programmes and recommendation to proceed or suspend programmes.
  • Support the budget formulation process, tracking expenditure, updating the budget spend in line with project implementation and disbursement of funds.
  • Preparation and consolidation of data and reports and ensuring information is captured on the relevant platforms.

Supports the commissioning and start-up effort and into operations through operating process equipment, systems, and processes for a specific plant/unit within the Sasol environment to achieve production requirements in a safe manner.
 
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
• Completion of full commissioning and startup training according to the matrix;
• Execution of commissioning tasks as instructed by the Shift Leader;
• Participation in drilling activities;
• Operation of applicable equipment and plant inspection, and production of fault reports;
• Safe start-up and shutdown of equipment and identification and resolution of applicable equipment problems;
• Participation in shift handover meetings and provision of appropriate feedback to the Supervisor on work progress;
• Participation in root cause analyses and provision of opinions to RCA teams, as well as participation in risk assessments in accordance with legislation and company requirements to improve safety;
• Identification of training and personal development needs and incorporation into the Individual Development Plan (IDP) with the approval of the group leader;
• Conducting IMS inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability;
• Maintaining good cleanliness and adhering to waste disposal procedures;
• Working independently or with minimal supervision;
• Ensure understanding and knowledge of the business, guidelines, and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
 
Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 or NQF Level IV in Mechanics, Electricity or Welding;
• 3 (three) years of relevant experience for the role;
• Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
• Fluency in Portuguese and good knowledge of English;
• Mozambican nationality.
