Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) is a public entity, established in terms of Section 9(1) of the Skills Development Act of 1998, as amended. 
 
The following contract position expiring on 31 March 2030 exists in the organisation:
 
ICT SUPPORT AND OPERATIONS OFFICER
All-Inclusive Annual Remuneration Package (TCTC):  R 595 201.00

Reporting directly to the ICT Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for the following:
  • Participate and provide input to the ICT MSP Strategy, ICT policies and procedures formulation and execution.
  • Assist to identify implementation gaps in ICT MSP Strategy, ICT Digital Transformation Strategy, policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Provide input in the development and maintenance of the organisational systems architecture.
  • Provide input to the improvement of business processes and provide system support through automation.
  • Provide low to high-level technical support and assistance to SASSETA users.
  • Provide network support by configuring and maintaining switches, routers printers, servers, telecommunications equipment and all other network components.
  • Provide input and assist in the development of user, functional and technical requirements for systems and applications.
  • Assist in implementing ICT Disaster Recovery Management and Business Continuity Planning (Onsite/Offsite backup maintenance, perform and manage backups and restores as and when required).
  •  Assist in evaluating, recommending and implementing new system requests, enhancement and requirements.
  • Maintaining ICT Security within SASSETA in line with the policy
  • Managing and Maintaining ICT assets and licensing requirements (hardware, software and related equipment).
  • Identifying data irregularities and addressing them.
  • Identifying recurring ICT issues caused by user errors and recommend upskilling approaches to resolve the issues and provide root cause analysis resolution.
  • Installing, configuring and managing the performance of the servers (emails, database, applications, files etc).
  • Installing, configuring and setting up new ICT hardware, software and access for users at various levels of complexities.
  • Installing and maintaining updates and enhancements through proper Patch Management and providing training and advise to users.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex ICT-related problems within the organisational ICT Infrastructure
  • Training and advise to users as and when required.
  • Addressing network issues by engaging with service providers and resolving issues within the SLA.
  • Setting up, monitoring and maintaining the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
  • Train staff to be compliant to the ICT MSP Strategy, ICT Digital Transformation Strategy,  policies and procedures
  • Participate and provide input to the implentation of ICT Risks Management.
  • Management and development of junior staff in the area of responsibility
  • Build cohesive, high-performance team.
  • Performing any other duty(ies) that may be delegated by the Manager time to time.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • An NQF level 6 qualification in Computer Systems/Computer Science/IT is required.
  • An ITIL certificate is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the field of ICT is required.
  • Must be computer literate at an advanced level in all Microsoft packages.
