RESEARCH ARCHIVAL ASSISTANT X1 
TOTAL COST TO COMPANY: R 7332.63 pm 
12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT 
The above short-term position exists in the Heritage & Research Department at Robben Island Museum. Incumbents are to travel to specified locations to collect data on women Ex-Political Prisoners on behalf of Robben Island Museum. This data would be populated into a database that would serve as a source document for future projects. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualise and plan the data collection process. 
  • Constructing a shareable database framework. 
  • Scheduling appointments for research of datasets and other resources. 
  • Document the entire research process. 
 
Minimum requirements: 
  • Unemployed graduate or prior work experience in Archival Studies/ Records Management 
  • Excellent telephone manner and excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other of the official languages spoken in South Africa. 
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license. 
  • Ability to travel away for 4 weeks at a time.
