Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Senior Manager: Security Services, the successful incumbent is accountable to manage all security vetting, administration and compliance activities and ensure all security related operations are implemented in accordance to the relevant legislation and policies.
 
Key Performance Areas
 
Security Vetting, Administration, Standards and Compliance
  • Manage vetting issues and problems.
  • Support team in reducing risk within RAF.
  • Manage the security clearances for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the completion and accurate recording of all security checks.
  • Manage the facilitation of the pre-screening and vetting clearance applications process.
 
Policy Review and Implementation
  • Develop and implement security plans and systems to secure all people on company premises and property.
  • Manage the implementation of the strategic and annual security performance business work plans.
  • Manage specific key performance indicators and measures against outcomes detailed in the security strategic plans.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the relevant official on emerging issues, risks, and the implementation of changes required and insights on policy matters.
 
Reporting
  • Develop functional reporting systems, for management, project or performance reporting.
  • Ensure regular and periodic reports are reviewed and submitted as and when required to provide progress updates and/or inform management decisions.
  • Substantial experience of reviewing proposals, briefings, presentations, reports, and other documentation and providing management information both verbally and in report format.
 
Stakeholder Management
  • Maintain proactive and progressive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Deal with inquiries and requests for information from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, service providers or procurement teams and ensure that all relevant procured items are invoiced and paid on time.
 
People Management
  • Manage staff in the department to ensure that they achieve their objectives in line with the strategic objectives of the RAF. Manage the implementation of human capital processes and procedures to control/regulate workplace conflict and/ or institute corrective measures and consultation processes to address deviations from standards.
  • Allocate, direct, motivate and evaluate subordinates to help them achieve their individual goals.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • National Diploma in Security Management/ Policing/ Criminology/ Forensic Investigation related qualification.
  • Graduate related qualification added advantage.
  • PSIRA Grading.
  • Security Vetting Certificate.
  • Relevant 6 - 8 years’ experience in a Security Vetting and Screening environment of which 2 years must have been on a superviroy level/ area of expertise.

Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Manager: Security Vetting, Administration, Standards and Policies, the successful incumbent is responsible for implementing and monitoring adherence and compliance of Firearm Management in line with the Firearm Act and prescripts within the RAF.
 
Key Performance Areas
 
Firearm Assessment, Compliance and Administration
  • Conduct Firearm Compliance Audits based on the Firearms Control Act and Regulations.
  • Conduct safe inspections of the safe and interview staff members that require firearms after hours and to store the firearm at their residence.
  • Control stock in order to validate that all company firearms, ammunition and equipment is accounted for.
  • Analyze and recommend firearm equipment/ accessories requirements needed by the close protectors.
  • Facilitate firearm training to all close protectors in line with the requirements.
  • Collect and transport firearms, ammunition, and equipment.
  • Issue firearms and permits to competent close protectors.
  • Collect firearms from SAPS stations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in firearm technology and industry trends.
 
Implement and Monitor Firearm Risk Management Process
  • Verify that the employee/s being issued with a firearm/s are in possession of a valid competency certificate for the specific category of firearm.
  • Control all access to the gun vault.
  • Maintain accurate and complete registers, permits and paperwork.
  • Inspect firearms and ammunition regularly in order to ensure that firearms are clean, in a working condition and serial numbers are visible and correct.
Reporting
  • Evaluate and report on the condition of firearms, ensuring they are in a proper working condition and free of any defects.
  • Compile written feedback reports on all audit findings, risk assessments, and follow-up on corrective actions taken or implemented.
  • Report on broken or faulty firearms received as per Firearms Policy.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • National Diploma in Security Management/Policing related qualification.
  • PSIRA Grading.
  • Firearm Competency Certification for business purposes.
  • Relevant 3 years’ experience in Firearm Administration and Compliance environment.
  • Experience in working on the Electronic Firearm Management System.

Key Performance Areas
 
Application Development Management
  • Acceptance of requirements from analysts.
  • Design the system in accordance with architectural standards.
  • Develop/ enhance/ maintain programs according to the RAF standards and requirements daily.
  • Keep records of all programs in application register and configuration management.
  • Documentation of programs and assisting in training manuals.
  • Facilitate software testing and quality assurance activities.
  • Fix the identified bugs/ defects as reported by the testing process.
  • Ensure alignment with DevOps, CI/CD Documentation and processes.
 
Integration
  • Develop the interfaces (coding) as described in the development activities category.
  • Build and maintain automated workflows using suitable solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of native or cross-platform mobile applications.

  • Certification in Power Platform development is an added advantage.
  • Relevant 5 - 7 years’ experience in the entire Software Development (SDLC) environment.
  • Experience in writing Application Integration Programs.
  • Experience in Unified Modelling Language (UML).

  • Experience with API integration (RESTful APIs).
