Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Senior Manager: Business Analysis, Enterprise Architect and Process, the successful candidate will be accountable to work with stakeholders to specify, design and select information system that deliver great value to the RAF.
 
 
Key Performance Areas
Develop Component Solution Architecture for RAF and expected RABS
  • Consume the Business requirements and utilize existing Solutions Architectures, Technology Context Model and other existing Enterprise Architecture components to develop the specific solution architectures.
  • Responsible for making decisions or recommendations around the nature of business solutions – i.e. build or buy decisions, the technology platforms to use, how will the solution scale to meet expected user demand, how should the solution components be deployed, and the solution integration decisions with other organizational systems.

Manage Application Portfolio
  • Develop an application portfolio.
  • Periodically update the application portfolio to keep abreast of the changing application landscape.

Manage Solution Architecture
  • Develop conceptual solution architecture.
  • Analyse the business requirement.
  • Perform advisory service to business on solution building blocks.

 
Identify Risks Associated with Solution Architecture
  • Identify existing business risks related to the implementation of software design.
  • Draw up risk mitigation plan.

Reporting
  • Develop weekly and monthly reports.
  • Attend all required technical meetings and action all the related items.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma @ NQF Level 7 in Information System or Computer Science.
  • Post graduate Diploma/ Honours Degree/ Professional Qualification Degree will be advantageous.
  • TOGAF certification.
  • Service Oriented Architecture Certification will be advantageous.
  • Relevant 6 – 8 years' experience as a Solution Architect in various ICT environments of which 2 years must have been on supervisory level/ area of expertise.
  • Experience of developing Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).
  • Strong integration experience.
  • Experience in assessing a broad range of information solutions and products (i.e. document management, collaboration management, content management etc.)

  • Knowledge of Infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balancers and routers.

Remuneration
Total cost to company applicable to this position is minimum R911 075.00 per annum, negotiable.

NB: "RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages with no additional contributions from the Employer, successful candidates are required to structure their packages in a manner that will suit their needs".
