ROAD ACCIDENT FUND (RAF)
 
The Road Accident Fund's mission is, to provide appropriate cover to all road users within the borders of South Africa; to rehabilitate and compensate persons injured as a result of motor vehicle accidents in a timely and caring manner; and to actively promote safe use of our roads.

Purpose of the Role: Supervise, monitor and provide guidance to the team in handling both complex & ordinary matters and ensure fair, reasonable & timeously settlement of claims.
 
 
Key Performance Areas
Perform Human Resources Management Functions
  • Assess the workflow and distribution of functions to maintain consistency within the team.
  • Report on the planned activities of the unit.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the team.
  • Provide training on new developments.
  • Monitor and report on leave patterns and trends.
  • Ensure appropriate performance management, contracting and assessment.
     
Ensure adherence to corporate governance within the unit
  • Execution of assigned tasks in accordance with DOA and PFMA
  • Prevent fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures, guidelines and directives.
  • Ensure appropriate adherence to RAF values.

 
Perform claims processing activities
  • Check & approve payment in terms of DOA.
  • Authorisation in accordance with mandate
  • Verify nexus between injuries and the accident date and treatment.
  • Check for pre-existing conditions and make a note on the claims systems.
  • To ensure that all claims are processed timeously.
  • Provide guidance to the team with regards to claims administration.
  • Approve assessment, interim payment request and offers according to DOA.
  • Appoint Assessor, Experts and Actuaries.
  • Liaise with claimants to resolve queries and complaints.

 
Promote good working relations with stake holders  
  • Ensure constant communication with all stakeholders.

 
Generate and provide reports on team performance
  • Compile and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Ensure smooth preparations and attendance of RAF road shows.
 
 
Qualifications & Experience
  • NQF 7 (Bachelor's Degree or Advance Diploma) related qualification to discipline.
  • Relevant 4 years` experience in the Claims environment of which 1 year is on supervisory level.

Remuneration
Total cost to company of the minimum remuneration package applicable to this position is R502 953.00 per annum and will be negotiable commensurate with experience.
 
NB: "RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages with no additional contributions from the Employer, successful candidates are required to structure their packages in a manner that will suit their needs"
