Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the General Manager: Legal, Compliance and Regulation, the successful incumbent will be accountable to provide sound expert legal advice on all legal, regulatory and compliance aspects for the RAF to ensure that the interest of the Fund are protected against all legal risks.

Key Performance Areas
Legal Frameworks and Strategies
§ Develop and implement legal strategies that support the business decision-making and operational strategies.
§ Participate in the alignment of legal strategies to the operational framework defining and monitoring the deployment and maintenance of policies, processes, procedures and governance structures in order to ensure compliance to controls and standards.
§ Manage and direct the implementation of legal systems and processes within RAF.
 
Legal Advisory Service
§ Ensure provision of researched legal opinions, inputs into policy documents and advice to the RAF.
§ Provide legal advice on matters raised by Internal RAF stakeholders.
§ Provide legal inputs on correspondence of a legal technical nature.
§ Provide legal input into risk advisory services.
§ Provide and manage support with the review of pleadings and other court applications or processes and provide on-going instructions to RAF attorneys.
§ Provide legal expert advice in the area of Constitutional and Administrative Law.
§ Manage the implementation of Public Law prescripts for the RAF.

Reporting
· Develop sound and quality reports for the General Manager and all relevant Committees for the RAF.
· Foster the use of business dashboards and reports that can be viewed by multiple stakeholders.
 
Stakeholder Management
· Build understanding of legal issues, risks and obligations through advice, communications and training.
· Establish and maintain constructive and effective internal and external relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.
· Develop and maintain ways of work with other functional areas to ensure a coordinated approach in delivering business initiatives and requirements.
 
Qualifications and Experience
§ LLB Degree or Equivalent
§ Admission as an Advocate (with Pupillage) or Attorney.
§ Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa (CCASA) Membership will be an added advantage.
§ Relevant 8 – 10 years’ experience in a legal advisory/ corporate legal/ legal administration environment of which 3 years must have been on management level.
§ Proven prior experience in a public law environment.

Remuneration
Total cost to company applicable to this position is minimum R1 160 042.00 per annum, negotiable.
 
NB: “RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages with no additional contributions from the Employer, successful candidates are required to structure their packages in a manner that will suit their needs”.
