Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Manager: Regulation the successful incumbent will be accountable to provide legal technical support to the Regulation Functional Unit of the Legal, Compliance and Regulation Department of the Road Accident Fund.
Key Performance Areas
- Develop legislation.
- Prepare comment on draft legislation and public policy documents.
- Prepare and process responses to parliamentary questions.
- Quality control draft policy documents.
- Draft and vet marketing and media documents.
- Prepare opinions and responses to queries and draft and vet documents.
- Prepare and process Board Notices for the adjustment of statutory caps and tariffs.
- Departmental reporting and filing.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Law at NQF Level 7 or equivalent.
- Legislative drafting qualification.
- Code 8 driver's license.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a legal environment of which at least 2 years experience must include legislative drafting and public policy development.
- Proven organisational policy and procedure development experience.

- Knowledge of administrative law, the Public Finance Management Act, No.1 of 1999 and the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, No. 3 of 2000.
- Knowledge of the law of third party compensation and the Road Accident Fund Act, No. 56 of 1996.
- Knowledge of other legislation applicable to the Road Accident Fund.
- Ability to draft legislation.
- Ability to review and comment on draft legislation and other documents.
- Ability to present to, and engage with, senior management; governance structures; and legislative structures.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Packages effectively.
- Excellent legal research skills.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to write coherent, well-reasoned legal opinions.
Remuneration
Total cost to company applicable to this position is minimum R766 887.00 per annum, negotiable.
NB: "RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages with no contributions from the Employer, successful candidates are required to structure their packages in manner that will suit their needs".
