Purpose of the Job: Monitor, analyse and Interpret Adverse and advantageous judgements with the purpose of providing practical recommendations to core business.

Key Performance Areas:
Interpret, analyses and report on advantageous or adverse judgements taking into consideration various court rules, applicable legislation and procedural requirements
· Draft reports on adverse and advantageous judgement outcomes and lessons learnt for the sustainability of positive litigation practices and strategies.
· Draft policies, procedures and directives to lessen the impact of adverse judgements being granted.
 
Provide Technical Support
· Research, analyses and interpret new case law, legislation, directives and policies within the ambit and scope of the RAF.
· Conduct Legal Research by using various research methodologies (including Search Engines and Online Sources)
· Extract, filter and compare Case Law Precedents
· Use Case Law Principles to develop and Adapt RAF Principles and directives
· Extract, Simplify and Compile Written Case Law Principles to Operations Staff
· Monitor current RAF matters to determine relevancy to RAF Operations
· Provide Quantum advice with reference to relevant Case Law
 
Establish and maintain positive internal stakeholder relations
· Circulate Legislative Changes
· Prepare Explanatory Memorandums and Work Paper addressing:
· Legislative changes and interpretation issues, practical implications and effect of change
· Advise operational staff on recent case law principles
· Share recent case law with other RAF judgement monitoring units
Establish and maintain positive external stakeholder relations
· Inform external stakeholders of legislative, precedent and directive changes
· Schedule Quarterly meetings
· Establish and maintain contacts with the legal community, other agencies and courts/units
Provide ad hoc opinions and recommendations
· Legislative Changes & Interpretations
· Recommend timely interventions to prevent the RAF matters from clogging the rolls.
· Comment on the validity of Case Law used by Plaintiff Attorneys
· Assess Claim Files on Issues in Dispute
· Research Case Law supplied by Plaintiff’s Attorney and counter or analyze to determine relevancy
 
 
Qualifications and Experience:
· B Degree in Law @ NQF level 8 or equivalent
· Admission as an Attorney of the High Court or Advocate
· Relevant 3 years Claims/Litigation experience in a third party environment

Remuneration
A total cost to company of minimum remuneration package applicable to this position is R349 998.00 per annum and will be negotiable commensurate with experience.
