Media Production Technology Specialist
School of Journalism and Media Studies
The School of Journalism and Media Studies invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
Main Objectives
To support the media production activities of the Students and Staff of the School of Journalism and Media Studies through the provision of services relating to the technical operation of studios and field equipment and through the co-ordination of technical logistics relating to production events in collaboration with Academic and Technical Staff as required.
The Requirements
A diploma (NQF Level 6) in Journalism (with a broadcast specialisation) or Broadcast fields or equivalent and approximately 4 years relevant experience (such experience may include practical experience gained whilst studying) where such experience includes: -

Media Production Technology Specialist

The Requirements
A diploma (NQF Level 6) in Journalism (with a broadcast specialisation) or Broadcast fields or equivalent and approximately 4 years relevant experience (such experience may include practical experience gained whilst studying) where such experience includes: -
- The operation of multi-camera studios and digital video switching units and / or mixing desks and digital audio production equipment.
- Proficient operation of portable video and audio equipment for the purposes of media production
- Experience in media production in a computerised environment, including workflow and file management.
- Experience in the use of DSLR cameras for still and video media production
- Familiarity with Creative Cloud or equivalent software-based editing packages.
- Experience in the administration of computer-based media catalogues or digital asset management software would be an advantage

The Division of Student Services and Development: Career Centre, invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
Main Objectives
The main objective of this post is to provide comprehensive career counselling services to students and prospective students. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the running of the Career Centre as well as assisting with the supervision and training of intern psychologists at the Counselling Centre as delegated by the Head of the Counselling Centre.
The Requirements
- Qualified and registered counselling psychologist (Masters’ degree) with at least 3 year’s relevant work experience over and above their internship.
- Active registration with HPCSA.
- Individuals who have supervised interns will be at an advantage.
- Relevant experience includes: -
- Any work with adolescents or individuals with respect to Career Guidance. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one-on-one counselling, group counselling, educational work and Psychometric Services
- Experience in dealing with Secondary School Learners will be an advantage as well as any experience with students at a Tertiary level

Job Description
Principal Technical Officer
Pharmaceutical Chemistry
The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Division invite suitably qualified candidates to join their team.
Main Objectives
To actively support academic staff and the outcomes of the academic programme by ensuring that all undergraduate practicals are planned, prepared and delivered to the required standard. Furthermore, the role also requires that technical support is provided to postgraduate students and researchers. To be responsible for and manage the undergraduate Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratories and ensure standards are adhered to, especially regarding cleanliness, OHS and SOPs. Responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, and appropriately storing instruments and equipment for undergraduate and post-graduate use. Ensure that instruments and equipment are serviced, calibrated, and always in good working order.
The Requirements
A BSc Degree in Chemical Science or NQF 7 equivalent technical qualification, plus approximately 3 years relevant experience where such experience includes:
- Previous experience in a related chemical environment, including but not limited to laboratories within tertiary education, industrial laboratories, school laboratories, etc., where working with chemicals was part of the responsibilities.
- Experience with the correct safety, handling, and disposal of chemical and bio-hazardous waste as specified in the Occupational Health and Safety Act no. 85 of 1993.
- Experience in using scientific methods and instrumentation related to teaching and research laboratories and a good working knowledge of various analytical equipment.
- Experience in keeping laboratory infrastructure maintained.
- Experience in record keeping and general administration, as well as financial knowledge (e,g budgets, financial controls and stocktaking).
- At least one year’s proven staff supervision experience in a laboratory-related field.
- Experience with Organic Chemistry, Inorganic, and Analytical/Physical Chemistry.
- Experience with Microbiology would be an added advantage.
