The Library Services Division invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team. 
 
Main Objectives
Identifies and creates appropriate knowledge structures, and oversees the creation, management, and maintenance of metadata within the Rhodes University Library Services.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring data integrity, data curation, accessibility, and discoverability for various data assets, including research outputs, primary and secondary resources. The Metadata Curation Manager leads a team of metadata specialists and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support the organisation's data management and analysis efforts.
 
The Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science (NQF level 8) OR a 3-year Degree, plus a 1-year Post-Graduate Library Diploma (NQF level 8) plus approximately 8 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -   
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in metadata creation in an academic and/or research library
  • NACO trained (authority record creation)
  • At least 3 years’ previous supervision experience.
  • Familiar with XML, MODS, Dublin Core and MarcEdit
  • Project Management experience
 
Previous exposure to archives and/or research data curation and taxonomy development will be an advantage.

In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution. The Requirements

Professor: 

At least a PhD in Entomology or a related field with a strong focus on Entomology
  • Extensive teaching experience in Entomology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Experience in teaching topics related to general entomology, ecophysiology, insect diversity, insect form and function, apiculture, forensic entomology, parasitology, medical veterinary entomology, conservation,  pest management and entomological bio-control.  
  • Experience in research in general or applied entomological topics.
  • Research supervision of Master's and  PhD degrees to completion.
  • International profile in the discipline.
  • Track record of research publications and evidence of attracting funding
  • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles

Associate Professor:

Lecturer:
  • At least a Masters’ degree in Clinical Psychology, with a commitment to register and nearing completion of PhD within the probationary period. In addition, registration with the HPCSA as a clinical psychologist is required.
  • Three years of practice experience registered as a clinical psychologist with the HPCSA, and case supervision experience is advantageous.
  • Some teaching experience is required. Should be acquainted with online/ blended teaching, testing and marking or be willing to immediately acquire these skills once on the job through workshop attendance or other developmental opportunities.
  • Ability to teach and interest in any of the following areas is required:
    • Adult and/or child psychopathology, assessment and intervention
    • Public Mental Health and or Professional Identity
  • Multilingualism in teaching and case supervision is a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate students as research supervision at Hons, Masters and PhD level as per qualification will be required once in the job.
  • It would be an advantage for candidates to be able to do clinical supervision once appointed to the job. However, candidates will be expected to do so within a reasonable timeframe following their appointment.
  • Some evidence and experience in conducting research.

Senior Lecturer:
