Main Objectives
All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research) and community engagement, and recognizing differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level and contribute to their profession.
In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, and community engagement and contribute towards the institution's governance. This professor's leadership contribution should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty, and institutional levels.
 
The Requirements

Lecturer:
  • At least a PhD in Marine Biology or a cognate discipline
  • Tutoring, facilitation, or conference presentation experience required. Some teaching experience is an added advantage.
  • Ability to teach in some of the following disciplinary areas: physical/biological oceanography, ecophysiology, evolutionary biology, ecology, biological modelling, cell biology, statistics in biology
  • Some research supervision of postgraduate degrees is an added advantage.
  • Some administrative experience, albeit in informal contexts, e.g., student or sports clubs, work experiences.
 
Senior Lecturer:
  • At least a PhD in Marine Biology or a cognate discipline
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required.

Main Objectives

The Requirements
A relevant B. Degree plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience where relevant experience includes: -
  • Having worked with accounts and/or in an accounting environment with at least 5 years’ experience working in payroll
  • Must have worked on a computerized payroll system, with specific experience on SAGE Payroll
  • Previous experience in handling payroll queries
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to PAYE, UIF, LRA, BCEA and finance legislation, i.e. National Credit act.
  • At least 2-years’ supervision/management experience

Main Objectives
The Service Desk provides a point of communication for all ICT users telephonically, via email, or by users physically coming to the Division. The Lead: The Service Desk Agent drives the efficiency and effectiveness of the Service Desk, ensuring that a point of coordination for several sections/groups and processes is well maintained, resulting in excellent customer service to all staff and students.
 
The Requirements
Grade 12 plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience where such relevant experience includes: -

• Previous experience working in an ICT Service Desk environment, especially using an IT Ticketing system.
• At least 2 years experience supervising staff OR have a Supervision Certificate plus a year’s experience
• Previous experience working with management of assets and updating of asset registers or 6 years administrative experience working at an advanced and independent level
• An ITIL qualification will be an advantage
