Main Objectives

The requirements
Grade 12 with preferably with accounting as a subject, plus approximately 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
  • Previous experience working with budgets where the reconciliations of accounts was essential.
  • Previous administrative experience within a computerized administration environment with a working knowledge and understanding of word-processing, Excel, Microsoft, the internet and emails.
  • Previous experience developing effective administrative systems and processes within an electronic administrative environment.

Purpose
As a senior member of a team of psychologists and interns in the Counselling Centre, the primary purposes of this job are to provide comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students, provide advice to University staff members in managing students with psychological problems, assist the Head of the Centre in the supervision and training of intern psychologists.

Requirements
Registration and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist (Masters’ degree) with at least 3 year’s relevant work experience over and above their internship.  Individuals who have supervised interns will be at an advantage. 
                                            
Relevant experience includes: -
  •  Any work with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one on one counselling, group counselling and educational work
  • Those individuals with specific experience of working with University students will also be at an advantage.
  • Experience in training of groups
  • Experience in the counselling of HIV/AIDS patients will be an advantage as well as any involvement in HIV/AIDS initiatives/programs
  • Being able to speak Xhosa will be an advantage

Lecturer
At least a Masters’ degree in Counselling Psychology, with commitment to register and nearing completion of PhD within probationary period.

  • Three years of practice experience registered as a Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA, and case supervision experience is advantageous.
  • Some teaching experience is required. Should be acquainted with online/ blended teaching, testing and marking or be willing to immediately acquire these skills once on the job through workshop attendance or other developmental opportunities.

    • psychological assessment, particularly cognitive assessments,

The Manager: Technology Transfer (TT) is responsible for the management and commercialisation of the University’s Intellectual Property (IP). The Manager: TT oversees the IP protection strategy for innovations as well all IP registration activity such as patent registrations. The Technology Transfer Manager will oversee the protection of innovations through disclosure, material transfer agreements, non-disclosure agreements, technology development and collaboration agreements, joint venture agreements and licensing agreements. Responsibilities also include defining, obtaining required approval for, and implementing commercialisation strategies, including negotiating licence deals and creating spinouts.  The Manager: TT will work with the DVC: RI&SP and TT Steering Committee to entrench and strengthen the activities of  Technology Transfer.

The requirements:
A B. Degree, (Masters is preferable) in Science or Engineering and/or a Business-oriented qualification, plus 3 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
  • Technology transfer and Commercialisation of innovations.
  • Evaluation of innovation and IP management.
  • Data-base creation, and data management.
  • Financial management (to include budgets, tracking and costing and reporting).
  • Project-management experience.
