Primary Duties
The overall duty of the job is to assure the supply of safe and acceptable quality drinking water to consumers produced from raw water sources such as:

  • Raw water abstraction and to ensure that the flocculation, coagulation, disinfection and filtration process comply with the Rand Water and SANS standards set.

Job Advert Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to ensure accurate and reliable plant status information to management for planning and decision making with regards to PLC and SCADA systems in Vereeniging Pumping Station.
 
Minimum Requirements
•    Grade 12, Degree/B-Tech/Diploma (N6 or S4) in Electrical (PLC and Automation) Engineering.
•    Professional improvement with ECSA.
•    6 years’ experience in the PLC and automation maintenance improvement environment.
•    Good experience with PLC, SCADA systems and networks.
•    Competent with Wonderware In Touch SCADA software, Modicon PLC software, Modsoft, Concept, XBT, Panelmate (HMI) and Unity.
•    Knowledge on communication networks such as optical fibre systems, serial communications, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, Modbus and Modbus Plus
•    High degree of computer literacy.
•    Code 08 drivers licence.
 
Primary Duties         
The incumbent will ensure availability of an effective plant and continuous water supply to customers. The critical functions will include:
  • Financial management of periodic asset management and life-cycle costing
  • SCADA fault repairs on software and hardware
  • To perform PLC, HMI, Networks, and SCADA systems maintenance, troubleshooting, faultfinding, and programming modifications
  • Commissioning of SCADA & PLC installations on site
  • Maintain PLC software and hardware
  • Maintain Communication Networks

  • Provide support to ensure plant availability and reliability
