RAILWAY SAFETY REGULATOR (RSR)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
An LLB degree or relevant recognised law qualification
A minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in a public sector corporate secretariat or legal environment
 
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
• Knowledge of corporate governance (Understanding of King IV Code of Good Governance)
• Knowledge of Corporate Law
• Knowledge of legal research
• Advanced minute taking skills
• Knowledge of legislative compliance
• An appreciation for maintaining confidentiality in all matters
• Ability to cope with stress and work under pressure
• Willingness to work irregular or extended hours
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Results driven and proactive work approach.
 
 
KEY RESULT AREAS:
• Provide guidance to the Board regarding their fiduciary rights, duties, responsibilities, and powers
• Keep abreast of all legislation, regulatory and corporate governance developments that may influence the organisation’s operations and advise the Board accordingly
• Prepare accurate minutes of the Board, Board Committee meetings, Annual General Meetings, and circulate these minutes within the prescribed timelines
• Draft governing documents for the Board
• Draft agendas, collate and distribute meetings packs • Advise the Board on ethical matters/principles
• Facilitate the annual performance appraisal for the Board and Board Committees
• Induct new Board members • Oversee the remuneration of Board members in line with relevant policies
• Track and follow-up on the implementation of Board and Committee decisions and resolutions.
