ACCOUNTING CLERK
Location: Head Office, Pretoria
Reference: PPSA 05 /01 /2026
Remuneration: R228, 321.00 per annum plus benefits
Role Overview:
Accounting Clerk: Accounting Clerk reports to Practitioner Financial Accounting and will be responsible for performing financial and clerical tasks to ensure accurate and timely recording of the Institution’s financial transactions by maintaining financial records, processing documentation and assisting with basic financial reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
A three (3) year tertiary qualification (NQF level 6) in Accounting/ Financial Management/ Cost and Management Accounting • A minimum of 12 Months functional experience in financial accounting •
Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
• Knowledge of financial processes, procedures and control systems. • Basic knowledge of PFMA and Treasury regulations • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills, demonstrating outstanding ability to correspond with colleagues, internal and external customers. • Reliable and hard working. • Accuracy. • Ethical conduct • Report writing skills and attention to detail• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality • Professionalism • Good customer service skills • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure • Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of Acumatica ERP system will be added advantage.

Key responsibilities and Duties
Process cashbook transactions, administer petty cash and reconcile bank accounts for head office and provincial offices• Assist in recording supplier data (invoices, amounts, dates, bank details, etc.) • Timely and accurately •Assist in processing payment of invoices within 30 days of date receipt• Assist in preparing and managing electronic payments and filling of this payments (e.g. suppliers and 3rd party payments) •Assist in capturing all transactions onto the accounting system• Assist in preparing monthly creditors reconciliation and 30 days payment report •Ensure the purchase orders and requisition forms are approved and amounts agree to invoice before payment is processed •Perform other duties as delegated by the Practitioner financial Accounting.

Note: All appointments will be done in terms of the Public Protector Act and a 12 month probation period which maybe extended to 18 months will be applicable.
The successful candidates will be expected to sign the secrecy declaration form and performance agreement within 2 months of accepting the position.
All shortlisted candidates shall undergo compulsory technical accounting competency assessments and only candidates that pass the test shall be invited to the interviews.
All successful candidates will have to undergo security clearance and vetting, and psychometric assessments may be conducted prior to appointment.
