Requirements:
A 3 year National Diploma in Public Administration/Public Management/ Business Management/Office Management/Management Assistant/Secretarial Services or any 3 year administration related qualification • 1 year experience/12 months completed Internship in Office Administration and/or Secretarial • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.

Key responsibilities:
Perform basic Secretarial and Administrative functions such as, Managing the daily, weekly and monthly diary, Arranging meetings, typing, faxing, copying and filling of documents • Handle basic financial administration, procurement and personnel administration matters in the Complaints and Stakeholder Management Branch including the processing of claims and payments • Capturing Cases/Complaints in the Master list • Disseminate files to different Units and Provincial Offices • Prepare and disseminate memos • Compilation of weekly/monthly/quarterly statistics • Develop and maintain a filing system • Undertake occasional Receptionist duties • Handle the maintenance and acquisition of equipment • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor from time to time.

The Public Protector South Africa seeks two (2) independent suitably qualified persons with knowledge of financial accounting, internal audit, legal, risk management, human rights legislation, PFMA and information technology to serve on the Audit Committee.
Requirements:
Degree or equivalent qualification in the field of accounting, auditing, legal, ICT and public administration. A qualification in MBA/CIA/CA is required. The ideal candidate should have 8 years management experience gained from Strategic Management, Financial Accounting, Governance, Legal, Internal Auditing, Risk Management and Information Technology. Professional membership of a recognised profession will be an added advantage. Previous experience of serving in the Risk Management Committee and/or Audit Committee will be an added advantage. The ideal candidate must be an independent thinker, with excellent knowledge of the Corporate Governance, Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations and must not be employed in the Public Service and/ or public sector.
Term of office:
Appointment will be for a period of 3 years, but may be subject to renewal at the discretion of Public Protector South Africa. Appointment will be supported by applicable terms of references and contract.
Competencies:
Expertise in either of the following areas: Internal and External Auditing, Accounting, Legal Services, Risk Management, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Corporate Governance. The member must possess the following qualities: Independence and Integrity, Objectivity, Willingness to dedicate time to the Audit Committee activities and Communication skills.
Key responsibilities and duties
As an Advisory Committee to the Accounting Officer in terms of the Public Finance Management Act, the Audit Committee will review and advice on: • the coordination of audit efforts to ensure the completeness of coverage and promote the effective use of financial resources • The adequacy and effectiveness of the organisation’s internal controls, including computerised information systems control and security, the quality of financial and other management information produced to ensure integrity and reliability, as well as any related significant findings and recommendations of internal and external auditors, together with Management’s response thereto • Examine and review annual financial statements before final approval thereof • Compliance with all regulatory and other related requirements • Significant incidents of suspected criminal or irregular nature.

The following Internship/Trainee opportunity exists within the Public Protector South Africa
The Public Protector South Africa presents exciting opportunities/positions for the unemployed graduates between the ages of 18 and 35 through its Internship and Trainee Programme. Successful applicants will be appointed for 12 months and will undergo on-the-job development training that will be crucial for them to enter the formal job market.
To qualify for the Internship/Trainee programme, you must –
• Be an unemployed graduate aged between 18–35 years;
• Have completed a Degree / Diploma (NQF5) / National Diploma (NQF 6) or Honours/ Master’s Degree in the under-mentioned disciplines/ fields of study from accredited institutions of Higher Learning; and
• Must be a South African Citizen
• Must not have participated in an Internship previously.
