Job Summary
Responsible for conducting research, studies, and analysis to inform institutional policies, support institutional work processes and programs, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in various fields of governance public administration, law, economics, social sciences.
 
Requirements
Education: A minimum of bachelor degree in fields such as public policy, economics, political science, sociology, law, or any other analytical related qualification.
• Eight years relevant experience in a research environment.
• Extensive experience in drafting opinion pieces and liaising with media houses.

Skills and Competencies
• In-depth knowledge of government structures, Public Administration, socio-economic issues impacting state operations. • Strong proficiency in designing, implementing, and analysing research, including surveys, case studies, and fieldwork. • Expertise in data analysis, statistical methods, and the ability to interpret and translate findings into actionable recommendations. • Familiarity with research tools, data analysis software, and databases commonly used in state research. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, policy briefs, and presentations to diverse audiences. • Ability to identify issues, evaluate potential solutions, and provide actionable recommendations to improve government policies and programs. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
 
Responsibilities
• Conduct Research by designing, planning, and carry out research projects to address issues relevant PPSA, specific topics related to PPSA mandate.
• Conduct research and produce opinion pieces for the Public Protector.
• Provide evidence-based insights to inform to inform and assist in the development and refinement of PPSA policies.
• Collaborate with other researchers, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and academic institutions.
• Engage with government officials and stakeholders to ensure the relevance and practical application of research findings.
• Participate in task forces, committees, or working groups focused on specific institutional issues.
• Prepare research reports, publications, and policy papers for public dissemination or for internal PPSA use.
• Present findings to PPSA structures to support informed decision-making.
• Maintain accurate records of research processes, data, and conclusions for future reference or audits.
• Liaise with media houses on behalf of PPSA.

Role Overview
The Senior Manager: Complaints and Stakeholder Management (CSM) reports to the Executive Manager: Complaints and Stakeholder Management. The role of the post is to manage and facilitate effective complaints and stakeholder management within the institution. The Senior Manager will play a vital role in managing complaints within the institution, ensuring that customer concerns are appropriately addressed, and customer satisfaction is maintained. Developing effective complaints management systems and reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing effective complaints handling policies and procedures. Strategically build relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and grow institution’s portfolio.
 
Requirements:
Complaints Management
Develop/review strategies, policies and programmes for implementation and management of case or complaint intake, preliminary assessment and customer service • Develop business intelligence reports on reported complaints • Manage Intake, Assessments and Customer Service • Manage Reception, Registry and Call Centre • Ensure the development and implementation of effective Customer Service Management processes • Manage the implementation of the Integrated Access and Stakeholder Management Strategy and Implementation Plan • Develop, manage and maintain effective case management workflow • Oversee and provide support, guidance and coaching to complaints handling team and team leaders • Oversee the delivery of case management services to complainants at each location and ensuring compliance with all aspects of case management processes in accordance with Public Protector South Africa Policies and Procedures. Manage the finalisation of emergency matters in support of the Complaints Resolution Officers.
 
Stakeholder Management
• Manage outreach and stakeholder relations management and prepare reports thereon. • Manage international relations and ensuring reporting• Develop strategies to facilitate access to PPSA services by all communities Assist in the execution of high-profile engagements, • Manage Human and Financial Resources (asset management, human and financial resources).

Role Overview
Senior Manager: Strategic Support position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will be required to facilitate strategic planning, resource allocation, institutional performance management, and fostering a positive Organizational culture. Plan, monitor, execute and implement strategies aligned with objectives of Public Protector South Africa by identifying and conducting SWOT analysis to ensure the resource requirements are properly aligned to meet organization goals and to monitor the performance of the institution.
 
Qualifications and Experience
• An undergraduate qualification (NQF 7) as recognized by SAQA in Public Management and Administration/ Business Administration/Economic Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Information Management
• A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in which at least (5) five years’ experience at middle or senior management level involved in strategy planning, monitoring and evaluation
• Extensive experience and exposure in Corporate Governance, Compliance and regulatory environment
• Advanced Public Sector experience in Strategy Planning, monitoring and evaluation
• Knowledge of Risk Management will be an added advantage
• A valid driver’s license.

Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic responsibilities
• Manage and maintain credible strategic planning processes for the Public Protector South Africa (PPSA).
• Ensure, monitor and report on the implementation of the Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and Operational Plans.
• Coordinate the process of developing the strategic and annual performance plans for the PPSA.
• Provide strategic guidance and expert advice in terms of Strategic planning and development within the PPSA.
• Ensure the effective integration of strategic planning, annual performance planning, business planning and budgeting processes.
• General management of the Strategic Support Unit
 
Performance Monitoring
• Develop/ Maintain a framework/ system for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the PPSA on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of the PPSA
• Provide reports to various stakeholders on the performance of the PPSA
• Manage various strategic and institutional performance management events and projects/ programmes to compliance with the planning and reporting prescripts
