Location: North West Province
Reference: PPSA 03/11/2025
All-inclusive package: R1 059 105.00 per annum or R1 094 901.00 per annum for legally qualified candidates
 
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Provincial Representative, the Senior Investigator will be responsible for conducting complex investigations in state affairs relating to maladministration, abuse or unjustifiable exercise of power or other improper conduct in the province.
 
Qualifications and Experience
• A degree or equivalent qualification in any of the following fields: Law i.e. LLB or B Proc/Auditing/ Accounting/ Forensic Investigations/ Criminology/Policing • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in conducting investigations, including of which 3 years must include supervisory. • Good report writing skills • Good understanding of legislative prescripts that give mandate to Public Protector SA • Good understanding and experience in the application of Microsoft Office applications • Experience in the South African Public Services Administration • Proven experience in the application of Case Management System (CMS) or other case management related system • Experience in financial management system (forensic audit) • A valid driver’s license • Fluency in English and other official language relevant to the Province/Region.

Key responsibilities and Duties
 
Investigation
Conduct investigations on complaints relating to: Maladministration in state organs and parastatals, Abuse or unjustifiable exercise of power or other improper conduct or undue delay by persons performing a public function, and any act or omission by persons in the employ of government which may result in improper prejudice to any person
 
Forensic Investigations
• Conduct forensic Investigations on matters referred to the Public Protector South Africa.
• Conduct financial Audits, forensic Analysis and data Analysis
 
Internal Communications
Participate and conduct investigations on systemic administrative deficiencies or interventions: relating to service delivery and incidents of maladministration and corruption
 
Assets Management
• Manage assets and equipment allocated to the Unit
 
Produce investigations Reports
• Write detailed investigative reports summarizing findings.
• Maintain accurate logs and records for each step of the investigation.
 
Adherence to Legal and Ethical Standards
• Ensure all procedures comply with legal protocols.
• Maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and professional ethics throughout the investigation.
 
Human Resources Management
• Supervise Investigators and Junior Investigators
• Ensure compliance with Human Resources Management policies and procedures
• Perform any other duties allocated by the Provincial Representative

Note: All appointments will be done in terms of the Public Protector Act and a 12 month probation period which may be extended to 18 months will be applicable, should the performance target not met.
 
The successful candidates will be expected to sign the secrecy declaration form and performance agreement within 2 months of accepting the position.

Location: Head Office, Pretoria

Basic Salary per annum plus benefits: R506 238.00 per annum plus benefits.
 
Role Overview:
The appointed candidate will report to the Manager: Legal Services and will be responsible to organise and provide legal advise to the organisation and its employees and also protect them from any sort of legal implications.
 
Qualifications and Experience
LLB degree with minimum of 3 years’ experience in the legal field and admission as an Attorney or Advocate • A valid driver’s license. Experience in providing legal advice, drafting of legal opinions and negotiating, scrutinizing, drafting and editing legislation, legal documents and/or contracts • Proven Practical experience in Administrative Law, Public and Constitutional Law , Commercial Law, Law of Contract, Procurement Laws, Policies and Prescripts, Labour Law, Disciplinary and Labour Relations matter, including dealing with CCMA and Labour Court cases • Civil Litigations in theHigh Court and Magistrate’s Court • Legal Research

Key responsibilities and Duties
Assist with managing litigation by and against the PPSA. Provide legal administrative support, regular legal updates to PPSA Branches to ensure compliance with legislation. Advise on the drafting, reviewing, vetting contracts and other agreements of the PPSA. Assist with reviewing, vetting and quality assuring investigations reports. Assist with reviewing and/or providing legal opinions and advise specifically relating to investigation for  which the PPSA is responsible and provide ongoing support during investigations. Provide input/recommendations based on research findings and draft legislation. Assist with drafting of court papers, legal research, and advise. Consultation with witnesses. Assist with managing the resolution of legal disputes which includes representing PPSA arbitrations and in a court of law in addition to liaising with outside appointed legal professionals. Assist with procuring briefing and consulting with Attorneys and counsel including the preparation of documents. Substitute and/or represent Manager: Legal Services whenever he/she is, for any reason, unavailable to perform the functions of Legal Services.
