We are currently seeking applications from dynamic individuals for the following position:
JUNIOR DATA ANALYST
• *Job Grade: C3 – C5
• Ref: JDA01
• Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable

Purpose of the role:
• The Junior Data Analyst supports the PIC Data and Analytics function in performing the full lifecycle technical data analysis (including requirements gathering, modelling, data mining, visualisation and reporting).
• This role supports the Data Analyst in enabling the organisation to achieve business objectives by providing accurate insights, identifying trends, improving business processes and supporting advanced analytics initiatives.
Requirements:
• Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related.
• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst &/or Azure Database Administration Certification.
• Data Analytics or related certifications will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a data analytics or reporting role.
• Exposure to asset management, financial analytics, or investment data.
• Experience with conducting analytics, data transformation and visualisation using tools like IBM Cognos and Microsoft Power BI.
• Experience with databases, data warehouse design or implementations.
• Skilled in SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel and modern analytics tools.
Duties:
• Extract, analyse, and transform complex datasets to answer business questions.
• Mapping and tracing data from system to system to solve a given business or system problem.
• Develop dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI.
• Improve reporting efficiency and automate manual reporting processes.
• Perform data validation, profiling and quality checks.
• Support data governance, definitions and metadata management.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across investment, operations and IT functions to understand data needs.
• Participate in data-related activities of various projects (e.g., requirements gathering, testing, documentation).
• Assist with building and maintaining data pipelines and datasets.
• Support analytics services within Microsoft Fabric and Azure environments, as applicable.
• Analyse and resolve problems in existing data/ extracts/ pipelines/ queries and then implement corrective actions.
• Provide data analysis services during the lifecycle of projects to ensure successful implementations.
• Participate in data management and auditing, querying advanced data analysis and identification of anomalies as per defined policies.
• Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organisation.
• Support the acquisition and management of data feed services (e.g., JSE, Bloomberg, Iress, LSEG, MSCI, etc.) and subscription services across the organisation.
Skills and Competencies:
• Knowledge of data analytics processes and methodologies.
• Understanding of databases, data warehouse/lakes, cloud concepts, architectures and processes.
• Good numerical and analytical (including statistical) skills.
• Good understanding of agile methodologies, values, and procedures.
• Good knowledge of data governance and creating business-oriented workflows.
• Effective team player with solid time management.
• Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Strong analytical capability and attention to detail.
• Relationship Management and Customer Centricity.
