Qualification Required: Higher Certificate or National Diploma in Policing / Forensic Investigation, Policing, Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation, Criminology, Security Management, Law Enforcement or equivalent
Requirements: Higher Certificate or National Diploma in Policing / Forensic Investigation or Law qualification ? Coupled with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in investigation ? Key Performance Areas: Assist the Investigator(s) in rendering effective and professional investigative duties to safeguard the interests of the Authority? Provide judicial support in achieving the fundamentals of investigation such as interviewing of witnesses / victims, questioning of suspects, compiling written reports , making recommendations and testifying at internal, criminal and or industrial hearings? Gather, preserve and analysing evidence relevant to an investigation, which can include the assembling of documentation, taking of statements, photographs, video footages, computer derived and any other material evidence? Assist the senior investigators in preparation of reports, maintaining accurate case files and procurement, and analysis of information retrieved from various sources? Assist in the achievement of organisational objective through the application of any legal investigation techniques while ensuring the implementation of organisational policies ? Liaise with external bodies i.e. SAPS, DoEL, DHA, and the public to ensure prompt response and resolution of complaints and enquiries? Conduct administrative duties such as ensuring the reports, registers, statistics, and records are accurate and procedurally correct ? Coupled with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in criminal investigation, law enforcement, regulatory compliance and or security management ? Valid driver’s licence. Ideal candidates are expected to have their own reliable vehicle ? Training in Detective Learning / Resolving of Crime programme will be an added advantage (DLP / ROC) ? Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process.
Essential criteria: Ability to interpret pieces of legislations that manages the law enforcement and investigations ? Ability to work under pressure ? Key Performance Areas: Conduct investigations and inspections. The investigation of complaints and illegal practices with regards to improper conduct of security service providers ? Conduct routine inspections at security service providers to ensure compliance in terms of the Act, in particular the Code of Conduct Regulations ? These security service providers includes all categories or classes of security services such as Guarding, CIT, Locksmiths, Private Investigators, Electronic Security Industry etc. ? Conduct infrastructure and capacity inspections at new applicants for security businesses in order to ensure that they meet the prescribed infrastructure and capacity requirements to render the security services ? Issue directives to the Private Security Industry in respect of any obligation in terms of PSIRA Act and Regulations ? Conduct assessments of training facilities in order to verify whether they meet the accreditation requirements ? Investigate and obtain evidence pertaining to non-compliant conduct by security service providers in respect to the code of Conduct for Security Service Providers ? Investigations including auditing of records kept by the security service provider in terms of applicable legislation, fraudulent activities and conduct of the security service providers ? Identify any possible contraventions of the Code of Conduct and Regulations and compilation of statements and charge sheets relating to the allegations of improper conduct ? Liaise with Authority and State Prosecutors with regards to the charges and evidence ? Serving of Regulation 3(4) notices (charge sheet and summons) ? Keep the complainant informed of progress on cases initiated which are handed over to law enforcement agencies , until concluded ? Perform Commissioner of Oaths / Peace Officer functions ? Follow due process in taking affidavits of witnesses as well as aspects dealing with the collection of evidence to prove a case ? Testify in Improper Conduct enquiries ? Liaise with the Finance Department regarding outstanding annual fees and fines, and facilitate the recovery and payment of such amounts to the Authority ? Submission of statistical reports on Law Enforcement activities.
