MANAGER: ELECTRICAL & WORKSHOP
Post Level 3
Salary Scale: The Council offers a fixed package of R388 378.84 per annum plus traveling allowance subject to certain conditions and normal municipal benefits.
 
 
HIGHER EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
• Bachelor Degree / B-Tech / National Diploma in the fields of Electrical Engineering / Building Engineering.
 
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Years' Experience
3-4 years Experience at Middle or Supervisory management level preferably in a municipal environment Knowledge • Knowledge of planning, design, construction and maintenance of electrical networks and systems • Knowledge of Corporate Governance Principles • Must have extensive High Voltage exposure in a Municipal environment.
 
Skills Requirements
• Management skills, planning, control, design, organizing skills • Report writing, construction and maintenance.       
 

Additional Requirements
• Valid Code B (08) or EC1 (10) driver's licence. Certificate in Project Management. Membership of South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) • Professional Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) registration or IMESA will be an added advantage: otherwise candidate should be eligible to register as a Professional with ECSA within 3 years.
 
Core Functions
• Be responsible for the strategic management of the Electrical and Workshop sections, which includes overseeing staff, resources and any other problems which ensure that the provision of electricity services, mechanical services and associated services are efficient and effective • Oversee planning, design, construction and maintenance of electrical networks and systems • Oversees the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground cables • Execute and monitor the annual and operational budget of the Electrical section and Workshop section • Represent the sections in meetings and forums that relate to Electrical section and Workshop sections • Facilitate the implementation of service level agreement in the department with all relevant stakeholders • Prepare reports for committees and management Support and manage staff under the sections and area of operation • Performing any other duties that may be delegated by the Director: Infrastructure & Engineering Services.
