MISSION: Manage the execution of the maintenance programme and repairs to Overhead Track Equipment and Distribution Networks

CAPABILITIES:
Minimum Requirements:
• Matric or N3 Electrical Engineering Heavy Current (attach certified copy)
• High Voltage Cat “A” Red license overhead Track equipment
• Code 10 drivers’ licence with PDP (attach certified copy)
• Computer literacy (attach certified copy)
• 3 years’ experience as a traction linesman with Category “A” red licence (attach certified copy)
• 3 years’ experience as a Technical Supervisor with category “A” Red licence (attach certified copy)
• Must be able to lift at least 50kg
• Must be able to work at heights
• Must be willing to work 7 days a week
• Must be willing to work abnormal hours or shifts
• Must not be colour blind
• Tool handling

MISSION: To safely and efficiently operate, maintain, repair and safeguard the high voltage Electrical plant and associated equipment in Traction and Signal Supply Substations.
OUTPUTS:
• Compile daily reports / timesheets
• Perform maintenance on substations and related equipment
• Perform maintenance on electrical installations of stations and buildings
• Perform fault finding and rectification of electrical equipment
• Ensure safety of subordinates
• Control of work on maintenance systems
• Control of material
KNOWLEDGE:
• Safe working procedures and relevant instructions
• Safety equipment
• OHSA (Act 85 of 1993)
• Thorough knowledge of safety instructions: High voltage electrical equipment
• Wiring of premises code (SANS 10142)
• Electrical engineering theory, design, practices and standard
• Maintenance practices and operations of electrical department
• Material stock levels
• Have successfully completed the course in 3kV DC electrical traction systems

• Be in possession of a category “A” certificate of authority, as required for the section concerned and be prepared to be retested (before appointment)

• High Voltage Cat “A” Brown license
• Drivers licence code 8 / 10 (attach certified copy)
• Successfully completed the Electrical Traction System course (attach certified copy)
• 2 Years of experience as an Electrician
