JOB TITLE: Head: Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO)
SALARY GROUP: General Management

DEPARTMENTAL MISSION: To lead project delivery and governance across the organisation whilst ensuring alignment of projects and programs to corporate strategy and objectives.
 
 
OUTPUTS:
 
Define the enterprise project management methodology and governance frameworks
 Define PRASA’s standardised project management approach which will regulate the entire value chain of project management as well as:
  • project/ portfolio prioritization methodologies.
  • programme and project readiness framework.
  • programme/ project benefits realisation framework.
  • project risk framework
  • reporting tools which deliver value.
 
Lead the implementation of best practices in project management within the organisation
 Introduce and manage the establishment of Project Steering Committees, Project Boards etc.
 Direct project review processes like gate reviews, project audits, approvals of closeout reports etc.
 Direct and oversee :
  • Capital investment processes;
  • Evaluation and review of programme and projects performance;
  • Benchmarking and continuous improvement of governance frameworks and practices.
 
 
Provide expert project management advisory services
 Identify and lead initiatives aimed at professionalization of project management within the organisation.
 Maximize the use of innovation and technology in project management.
 Conduct site-visits.
 Coach and mentor project sponsors and managers.
 Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing/transfer (lessons learnt sessions) amongst project teams.
 Support the management of cross-functional project teams.
 
Management of resources
Manage:
 the use of departmental assets;
 finances in terms of budget forecasting and spending; and
 human resources in terms of:
  • Training and development;
  • Performance management
  • Succession planning;
  • Quality of work etc.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE
 In depth knowledge of the relevant applicable legislation like CIDB, FIDPM;
 The business environment,
 The relevant role players within the business and their key responsibilities;
 Knowledge of project management Guides like Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) and the Project Delivery Framework (PDF),
 Project management principles and practices;
 Financial management;
 Training or knowledge of project management tools like Microsoft Project;
 Knowledge of Risk Analysis and Financial Modelling; Proficiency in MS Office.

CAPABILITIES:
Minimum requirements
 NQF level 8/relevant Built Environment (e.g. Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Sciences) Qualification
Ideal: Post-Graduate Qualification in the Built Environment, and/or MBA and/or Project Management Certification 
Experience:
 Fifteen( 15) years Project Management Experience
AND
 Three (3) Senior Management Experience
Legal requirement:
 Valid South African driver’s license
