1 X TECHNICIAN: METERING 
DEPARTMENT: INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES 
DIVISION: ELECTRO-TECHNICAL NETWORK SERVICES

SUBJECT TO TASK EVALUATION 
 
REQUIREMENTS
• N3 in Electrical or Equivalent Qualification 
• Trade test (Electrician) 
• Class 2 Meter Worker 
• Wiremans License (Phase 3) 
• 2-3 Years experience 
• Valid Code B driver’s license 
• No fear of heights 
• Must be willing to undergo a medical and fitness test. 
• Proficient in two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
• Installation and connection of new meters. (Credit & Pre-Paid Meters) 
• Minimize revenue losses by doing inspections 
• Investigating illegal or tampered connections 
• Verify installations according to the latest SANS 10142-1 regulations 
• Adhere and ensure implementation of the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and its Regulations 
• Repair installation after vandalism or theft 
• Perform standby duties as and when required

REQUIREMENTS
• Basic literacy 
• 0 – 1 years relevant experience 
• Good health and sober habits 
• Health and safety aspects related to the work area 
• Proficient in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 
• Understanding of mixing premix 
• Understanding the different types of bitumen, tar stone and crusher dust 
• Stock reporting 
• Daily usage reporting/writing 
• Daily cleaning of machinery, equipment, and material 
• Follow instructions from the supervisor 
• Report any faults on the machine 
• Operating other small plant machinery when needed.
