The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud) was established by the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (FAIS Act). Its objective is to consider and dispose of complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical, and expeditious manner and by reference to what is equitable in all circumstances. The FAIS Ombud offices are located in the east of Pretoria in Gauteng.
In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint an HR Administrator to support the Human Resource Department’s operations and activities and to provide HR Administrative duties to the Head of HR.
 
Job Purpose
Provide general human resources administration support to various human resources functions, which includes recruitment and selection, induction of staff, performance management, employee relations, organisational development, employee wellness, learning and development and any other HR areas as required.
 
Requirements:
Matric certificate or equivalent. National Diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent. A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the Human Resources field. Experience in Human Resources administration and diary management. Knowledge of Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices.  Knowledge of South African labor law.
 
Key Performance Areas:
  • Support the HR Office in various activities that contribute to efficiently running the HR department according to agreed-upon turnaround times, and quality standards.
  • Maintain physical and electronic HR files and ensure they are always audit-ready.
  • Assist with audit requests as and when required.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, and appointment by completing various administrative tasks related to initiating, processing, and approving recruitment actions.
  • Manage the HR Information System (HRIS) and ensure the accuracy of all data.
  • Provide administrative support for leave management, including the monthly leave run, preparing leave reports, and reconciliations. 
  • Provide administrative support for employee performance management, training, and development.
  • Administer the implantation of the Annual Training Plan and provide reports accordingly.
  • Attend to all SCM compliance requirements.
  • Provide administrative support for employee rewards, remuneration, and benefit processing.
  • Administrate employee termination process according to HR policies and procedures. 
  • Support the HR Office with promoting and implementing employee wellness initiatives.
  • Support the HR Office with occupational health matters.
  • Attend to maintenance requests for the Office and act as a liaison between the office and the building manager.
  • Facilitate all access requirements for the office.
  • Attend to all biometric requirements within the office.
  • Provide administrative support to the various committees under HR.
  • Support special or ad-hoc HR projects as required from time to time.

Strong interpersonal/human relations skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to operate a personal computer and proficient in the use of MS Office suite of products.

FAIS OMBUD GRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMME

The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud) was established in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (the FAIS Act). Its objective is to consider and dispose of complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical, and expeditious manner and by reference to what is equitable in all circumstances. The FAIS Ombud offices are in the east of Pretoria in Gauteng.
In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint Graduate Trainees as part of the Graduate Recruitment Programme. This structured programme is specifically designed to produce a pipeline of competent trainee entrants to the labour market.
Duration – The duration of the programme is twelve (12) months.
Number of Graduates – x4 (four)
Roll out of the Programme: Recommended candidates will be given an opportunity to learn under a dedicated mentor. Graduates will be assigned to relevant Departments and exposed to various competency-based training during the duration of the twelve-month programme.

Requirements:
  • Human Resources Graduate Trainee x2 – Human Resources Management Diploma (NQF 6) or Degree (NQF7).
  • Client Care Graduate Trainee x2 – Office Administration Diploma (NQF 5/NQF 6)
 
Additional Requirements for application:
  • South African citizen with a valid South African Identity document.
  • Passion for public service and an interest/desire to work in the Financial Sector.
  • Strong academic background and high levels of integrity.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment, willingness to learn and work extra hours.
  • Energetic, self-driven and deadline driven.
  • Must be computer literate.
