OMBUD FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES PROVIDERS (FAIS OMBUD)

Language Practitioner: Afrikaans to English Translation Services
The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud) is established in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (the FAIS Act). Its objective is to consider and dispose of complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner and by reference to what is equitable in all circumstances. The FAIS Ombud offices are located in the east of Pretoria in Gauteng.
In order to enable it to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and competent Language Practitioners to translate documents from Afrikaans to English. The appointment will be for six (6) months.
Key Performance Areas: working in a target driven environment to accurately translate complaints and documents related thereto, lodged by members of the public against financial service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Render language advisory services;
Translate documents from Afrikaans to English, within the prescribed deadlines;
Perform administrative tasks such as record keeping;
Develop processes and procedures related to the core function;
Quality check all documents before submission;
Monitor workflow to ensure that targets are met.
Qualifications and Experience:
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree) or higher qualification;
Minimum of 3 years job specific experience;
Accreditation by a recognised South African language institution will be an added advantage.
