JUNIOR CASE MANAGER
The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud), is established in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (the FAIS Act). Its objective is to consider and dispose of complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner and by reference to what is equitable in all circumstances. The FAIS offices are located in the east of Pretoria in Gauteng.
In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint a Junior Case Manager.
Key Performance Areas:
Drive the resolution of complaints received by the FAIS Ombud within a target driven environment on complaints received by the public against financial service providers and to move same towards a resolution in a procedurally fair, informal, economical, and expeditious manner.
The ideal candidate should have the following skills and abilities:
- A Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB). Graduates with a BCOMM Degree will also be accepted together with a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning;
- At least 1 years’ experience in the Financial Services Industry or in complaints resolution with an understanding of the financial planning process;
- An understanding and appreciation of the legal environment in which the FAIS Ombud’s Office operate and a thorough understanding of the FAIS Act, 37 of 2002 and the subordinate legislation;
- Well-developed IT skills and Knowledge of the Microsoft CRM programme (or similar) would be an advantage;
- Sound communication and leadership qualities;
- Excellent drafting skills;
- Energetic and self-driven;
- Results / Output / deadline driven;
- Good interpersonal skills;
The position requires a person who:
- Has an understanding and appreciation of the legal environment in which the FAIS Ombud’s Office operates;
- Is committed to achieving predetermined performance objectives and work within a high-performance team;
- Has the ability to mediate/conciliate complaints received from consumers of financial services; • Has an appreciation for public service and alternative dispute resolution;
- Can demonstrate an aptitude for customer service and conflict management;
- Can conduct legal research;
- Various other duties as may be determined by the Ombud;
