OMBUD FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES PROVIDERS (FAIS OMBUD)

VACANCY: FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR 
 
The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud), is established in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002 (the FAIS Act). Its objective is to consider and dispose of complaints in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner and by reference to what is equitable in all circumstances. The FAIS Ombud offices are located in the east of Pretoria in Gauteng. 
 
 
In order to discharge its mandate the FAIS Ombud requires a Finance Administrator who will be responsible for inter alia
 Issuing and monitoring of stationery; 
 Recording, maintenance, movement, collection and reconciliations of fixed assets; 
 Maintaining the filing and safekeeping of all finance related documents; 
 Assisting with accounting entries; 
 Assisting with general ledger capturing including the preparation of the journals; 
 Processing and capturing of payments; 
 Loading of payments to the bank; 
 Maintenance of fixed asset registers including the reconciliation to the general ledger; 
 Perform monthly reconciliations (namely, creditors, bank, debtors, petty cash and study loan reconciliations); 
 Follow-up with creditors; 
 Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation required for both internal and external audits; 
 Assist with the preparation of the audit file for external and internal audits;
 Performing any other duties as and when needed. 
 
 
The position seeks a person with the following attributes: 
1. Qualifications and experience 
 A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting 
 At least 1 year experience in capturing and processing financial information; 
 Understanding and working knowledge of the GRAP. 
 
2. Capabilities 
 The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task and handle enquiries from various management levels; 
 Must be able to handle confidential documentation and/or information; 
 Must have ability to pay attention to detail; and 
 Must have good administrative abilities. 
 
3. Knowledge 
 Ability to work with spread sheets; 
 Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office; 
 Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles relating to the public sector; and 
 Working knowledge of Sage 300 and Asset ware accounting packages. 
 
4. Behaviours

 Good interpersonal skills; and 
 Ability to work independently and in a team.
