ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: COMPLIANCE INSPECTIONS (2 POSTS) (Ref #: OHSC 26/2022)
Salary: R 477 090 per annum (plus applicable benefits)
Requirements:
- A degree or diploma in the health sciences field.
- A current practicing certificate with the relevant body/council.
- At least five (5) years’ experience in a junior management or supervisory position in health care services.
- Must have an understanding of the health system.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Experience in quality assurance/improvement and/or inspection processes would be an advantage.
- Skills required: computer literacy (word, excel and PowerPoint), report writing, problem-solving, decision making, communication (written and verbal) and conflict resolution.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Must be prepared to travel extensively and very frequently and willingness to work outside the normal working hours
Duties:
- Planning for inspections and re-inspections.
- Conduct inspections and re-inspection visits to health establishments.
- Validate and complete inspection reports and recommendations.
- Participate in the orientation and training of other employees.
- Manage and account for the use of resources.
- Manage and mitigate risks.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: HEALTH STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING (12-month contract) (Ref #: OHSC 25/2022)
Salary: R 477 090 per annum (plus 37% in lieu of benefits)
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or three-year Diploma in a health sciences field.
- Current registration with the relevant body/council.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in health care or health care education, training and development.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A post graduate qualification in public health, policy, law, health services management, education, training and development or a related field would be an advantage.
- Experience working in standards development, managed healthcare, risk management, quality management, tertiary education or research will be an added advantage.
- Good communication (written and verbal) and computer literacy skills.
- Report writing, analytical assessment and evaluation skills.
- Willingness to work outside normal hours when required
Duties:
- Drafting and implementation of the management framework for the design and development of health standards, guidance and training.
- Development of guidance materials for the implementation of norms and standards including training toolkits.
- Drafting, and consultation on health standards and relevant inspection tools.
- Provision of guidance and information on the implementation of health standards and the interpretation of inspection tools.
- Receiving and collation of queries relating to the health standards, including identification of frequently asked questions, and development of related documents.
- Provide support and capacity development in accreditation of OHSC Compliance Inspectors, Complaints Assessors and Investigators.
- Provide administrative support to the unit and production of programme performance reports.

INVESTIGATOR: HEALTH CARE CASES (12-month contract) (6 posts) (Ref #: OHSC 24/2022)
Salary: An all-inclusive salary package of R882 042 per annum (basic salary consists of 70% or 76% of the total package, OHSC’s contribution to the Government Employee Pension Fund (13% of basic salary) and a flexible portion). The flexible portion can be structured according to OHSC guidelines
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BCur) or Legal (LLB or Bproc) fields.
- Current registration with the relevant professional health council/body.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the health care field in a health facility, Chapter 9 institution or health related Regulatory institution of which 3 years must have been at a junior management level.
- Proficiency in more than one official language is required.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- A postgraduate qualification in a medical field, law or health care quality assurance would be an advantage.
- Experience in complaints investigations, case management or medico-legal investigations in a health environment would be an added advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision making, communication (written and verbal) and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent report writing and complaints handing skills.
- Willingness to work outside the normal working hours and under pressure.
Duties:
- Support the complaints investigation framework and strategy.
- Quality assure early resolution of complaint reports.
- Confirm and plan health care investigations.
- Conduct investigations into high and extreme risk rated health care complaints.
- Produce and submit investigation reports.
- Finalise and Close out investigations.

Salary: R 261 372 per annum (plus 37% in lieu of benefits
Requirements:
- A three-year bachelor’s degree/three-year diploma/National Diploma in Health Sciences.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in complaints management in a health-related environment or a health regulatory environment.
- Current registration with regulatory body e.g., HPCSA, SANC.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Proficiency in more than two official languages would be an advantage.
- A certificate in Customer Services, Call Centre Agency or related field would be an added advantage.
- Excellent communication and conflict handling skills.
- Must also have initiative as well as problem solving and computer skills.
- Willingness to work outside of normal working hours.
Duties:
- Receive and register all complaints, alerts, compliments or enquiries in the relevant system provided.
- Address healthcare complaints and enquiries.
- Administer healthcare complaints.
- Maintain the complaints database
