BUILDING CONTROL OFFICER
-TASK GRADE 11
Salary Scale: R 366 815, 81 – R 405 335, 05 per annum
Essential Requirements of the post:
National Diploma in Building Construction
Two (2) Years Relevant Work Experience
Computer literate
Code B Driver’s License
Key performance Areas:
Conducting Inspections of all the building works from the initial up to completion stages within the Municipal Jurisdiction as per the approved building specification.
Coordinating the safekeeping of records and statistics of all buildings erected or demolished within the Municipal Jurisdiction.
Checking to ensure that plan approval fees are levied to generate revenue for the municipality and submit reports to the immediate superior accordingly.
Checking whether proposed building work affects building worthy conservation in terms of SA Heritage Resources Act, accessing, and checking ownership.
Capturing all relevant information on building plan database, index cards or record, statistics, tracking purposes and submit to the immediate superior for further processing.
Conforming to the requirements of the National Building Regulations, relevant legislation, and other Municipal requirements.
Scrutinizing all building proposals in accordance with the building plan procedures, to ensure that examination process complies with the requirements of the National Building Regulations, NHBRC and other relevant Municipal requirements.
Advising applicants on National Building Regulations Requirements as well as any other department’s relevant requirements.
Advising applicants of amendments necessary in terms of these branch requirements by assisting them in interpretation and manner in which to rectify the plans.
Calculating the appropriate plan fees payable (according to the municipal tariffs fees) and bills the public accordingly, as per standard fees applicable.
Directing public to the pay point and awaits confirmation before plan is entered into the system.
Gathering plans, applicable documentation, and forwards to immediate superior for further processing.
Confirming that all building plans comply fully with National Building Regulations, NHBRC and all relevant Directorate requirements.
