VACANCY
 
Ntinga O.R. Tambo Development Agency SOC Ltd, a Municipal Entity of O.R. Tambo District Municipality, is looking for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following position:
 
1. WATER SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Five year-performance based contract
Salary: Grade El
Overall Purpose: To ensure physical integrity, hydraulic integrity and water quality integrity of water supply systems.
 
 
KPA's: WATER SYSTEMS ENGINEER
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the following:
a) Ground water source facilities (e.g. Boreholes).
b) Pumping facilities (e.g. Pumps).
c) Treated water storage facilities (e.g. Reservoirs).
d) Transmission and Distribution Systems (e.g. Pipes, Valves, Hydrates, Meters etc).
e) Safety Health and Environment quality management.
f) Security measures in water environment.
g) Water metering.
h) SCADDA monitoring (remote control).
i) Water Services Departmental Budget
j) Ensuring that the Department is resourced, performance measured and reported on
 
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications required:
a) A Degree in Civil Engineering or approved equivalent;
b) Registration with a Professional Body
c) The incumbent should have acquired the Certificate in Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP), or attain it within 18 months after employment the number of unit standards required for Senior Managers in terms of the 2007 Municipal Regulations on Competency Levels
 
 
Experience required:
a) Minimum of 5 years Managerial Experience 3 of which should be at Senior Management Level
b) Have water utility experience of managing water distribution systems.
 
Skills Set and Knowledge required:
a) Understanding of the common materials used in a distribution system.
b) Understanding of pressurised flow of water.
c) Understanding of hydraulics of water distributions.
d) Understanding of pump systems hydraulic design.
e) Understanding of SANS — 241 (quality integrity)
f) Understanding of water balance process.
g) Understanding of asset management development process.
h) Understanding of development of water safety plans.
