Nquthu Local Municipality (KZ 242) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following position:
Position : Disaster Management Officer
Salary : Task Grade 12 of the category 1 Municipality, plus Benefits such as Medical Aid, Pension Fund and 13th Cheque
Type of Contract : Permanent
Place of Work : Technical Services Offices
Key Requirements:
National Diploma in Disaster Management or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6)
3 years’ experience in local government
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent oral and written communication skills in at least two of the three languages of Nquthu
Good planning, organizational, presentation-, negotiation- and project management skills
Ability to function effectively under stressful situations and meet deadlines
Valid Code C1 driver’s license
It will be expected of the successful candidate to perform standby and overtime duties
Key Performance Areas
Play a leading role in the management and co-ordination of disaster operations during the response phase
Compile and maintain the Nquthu Municipality’s Disaster Management Plan
Responsible to ensure that Disaster Management Plans and information are submitted by all relevant stakeholders and internal departments
Initiate, plan and support Hazard, Capacity and Vulnerability assessments for the Nquthu Municipality
Promote capacity building through training and public awareness programs
Assist with the establishment of a well trained and equipped disaster management volunteer corps
Perform administrative tasks and duties related to disaster management
Responsible to ensure that Disaster Management Plans and information are submitted by all relevant stakeholders and internal departments
