POST: MEDICAL SPECIALIST (PSYCHIATRY) REF NO: NCDoH 01/2020
SALARY: Grade 1 - R 1 106 040.00 (all-inclusive package)

CENTRE: New Mental Hospital (Kimberley)
REQUIREMENTS: An appropriate qualification in psychiatry which allows registration as a Specialist Psychiatrist with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Current registration with the HPCSA as a specialist psychiatry. Sound clinical knowledge of skills in psychiatry. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to mental health care users. Computer Literacy. A valid driver's licence.
DUTIES: Provide care, treatment and rehabilitation to mental health care users within the framework of the mental Health Care Act (No.17 of 2002), involvement in other general psychiatry work as needed. Conduct mental observations in terms of the Criminal Procedure Act (No. 51 of 1977). Provide care, treatment and rehabilitation of State patients in terms of the Mental Health Care ACT (No. 17 of 2002). Teaching and training of medical officers as well as other personnel (nurses etc.) To stimulate, assist with and conduct research in the field of psychiatry. To supervise and manage junior staff which would include disciplinary responsibilities if and when necessary. Active participation in hospital committees. To assist to develop policies and protocols of the hospital. Active participation in quality improvement programs including clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings and continuous professional development activities. To liaise with external stakeholders when appropriate. Maintain professional and ethical conduct.

POST: HEAD OF CLINIC MEDICAL UNIT (PSYCHIATRY)
SALARY : R 1 728 807.00 per annum
CENTRE : New Mental Hospital – Kimberley
REQUIREMENT: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a normal Specialty or recognised Sub-Specialty. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in a normal Specialty or in a recognised Sub-Specialty. Sound Clinical knowledge of skills in psychiatry. Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to mental health care users. Computer Literacy. A valid driver's licence.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 7 years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in a normal Specialty or in a recognised Sub-Specialty. Three to five years proven managerial experience.
DUTIES: Provide care, treatment and rehabilitation to mental health care users within the framework of the mental Health Care Act (No.17 of 2002), active participation in other general psychiatry work. POST:ASSISTANT MANAGER NURSING (SPECIALTY - PSYCHIATRY)
SALARY : R614 991.00 per annum
CENTRE : New Mental Hospital – Kimberley
REQUIREMENTS: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification in psychiatry, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing of at least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty. At least 3 years of the period must be appropriate recognisable experience in management level.
DUTIES: Coordinate optimal, holistic, specialised nursing care with set standards and within a Professional/legal framework (Accreditation by supervisors, Nursing audits of patient records, Monitoring results of the environment, Feedback from the multi-disciplinary team,• Patient satisfaction questionnaires,Letters of praise/complaints, Monitoring of negative indicators i.e. needle stick injuries, patient complaints; Manage effectively the supervision and utilisation of resources; Effective multidisciplinary team meetings , Staff records, audits, Meeting notices, audits, Computer data, Feedback from patients and the public, Feedback from multi-disciplinary team, Accreditation i.e. weekly drug checks Cost monitoring to remain within allocated budget, Regular ward multidisciplinary team meetings re cost containment, Equipment checklist; Coordination of the provision of effective training and research, Research findings, Reports i.e. daily, weekly, monthly and annually (i.e. workload assessment), Safety and incident indicator report, Staff evaluation and appraisals; .
