Requirements: • Qualifications and experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering degree (BTech/BSc Engineering) • Five (5) years' post qualification experience in roads field • A valid driver's license • Knowledge: • Project management principles and methodologies, good understanding of financial management Act (PFMA), treasury regulations, division of revenue Act, Departmental SCM policies and regulations, general conditions of contract, Preferential procurement Act of 2000, Public service Act and Regulations, OHSA, Construction industry development board Act of 2000, relevant norms and standards pertaining road construction and material recommendations, computer aided engineering application • Skills: • Ability to analyse technical data and make recommendations, ability to implement professional judgment, strategic capabilities and leadership, presentation and report writing.
 
 
Duties: • Manage the roads capital development contracts • Manage the efficient functioning of the project management unit • Manage the reporting on planned and implemented projects • Conduct feasibility study and compile a priority list on urgent funded projects • Manage the budget • Compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports • Manage KPAs of subordinates.

Chief Artisan Grade A
Salary: R386 487 p.a (OSD)

Requirements: Qualification and Experience: • Trade test in Diesel Mechanic/construction plant mechanic/Motor mechanic • A valid driver's license • 10 years' post qualification experiences an Artisan or Artisan Foreman • Knowledge and Skills: • Project Management, Technical design and analysis, Technical consulting, Financial Management, Change Management, Creativity • Problem solving and analysis decision making, team work analysis skills, self-management, customer focus and responsiveness • Communication and computer skills, planning and organization skills • Technical analysis, knowledge of computer aided technical application • Knowledge of legal compliance • Technical report writing, and production knowledge process.
 
Duties: • Manage the Service Delivery Point workshop in the District • Obtain authority/approval for repairs or spares for services • Prepare the workshop budget for fuel and spares for workshop repairs and control expenditure • Perform inspections on plant and vehicles in the building section, road camps, sites and construction units • Inspect and follow up repairs at the dealer's or agent’s suppliers and contractors workshops within the Districts and the Province • Obtain data on hours of work done by each Artisan/Artisan Foreman on vehicles and equipment to facilitate the implementation of Mechanical Management System (MMs) • Work together with the District Mechanical Head in reducing the downtime of the plant and strive for maximum in-house repairs at the Departmental workshop • Hold workshop management meetings with the Foreman and Artisans on a weekly basis to solve day-to-day problems arising during operation • Collect weekly reports from the foreman • Ensure that all regulations as determined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act are complied with by the workshop • Evaluation and Development of personnel in the Division • Implement Performance Management and development system • Ensure compliance with occupational Health and safety Act • Administer leave and manage progressive discipline.
