North West Department of Education Audit Committee Members x5
Applications are invited from prospective candidates who wish to serve on the Audit Committee of the Department of Education.
Applicants are invited who have the following competencies: • Broad business and/or financial management experience • Experience in legal and accounting • Knowledge, of internal and external audit • Performance Management • Risk management • Information Technology (IT) • General Management, knowledge of corporate governance principles, good communication skills and independent judgement • The ability to conduct responsibilities in the context of the organisation's strategic objectives and overall corporate governance of the organization • The ability to act independently and be proactive in advising the Accounting Officer of issues that require further management attention • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management (PFMA) Act • Experience in or exposure to legislative sector or the public sector environment. Responsibilities: • The key responsibilities will include amongst others the following: • Provide an oversight role on the systems of internal control, risk management and governance • Assists the Accounting Officer (AO) in the effective execution of his/her responsibilities with the ultimate aim of the achievement of the organisation's objectives • Overseeing the internal and external audit activities.
Requirements: • A valid and unendorsed code 8 driver's license • Minimum three (3) years' experience in an audit committee • A minimum of post graduate tertiary qualification or professional certification relevant ; to the competencies as stated above • The term of the office will be for a minimum period of three (3) years' • Members will be remunerated for attendance of the meeting according to an hourly rate • Members employed in the Public Sector will only be reimbursed for travelling and accommodation expenses and not for attendance • All other refundable expenses will be based on Departmental policies.
