INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE
INSPECTOR: FLEET (TWO POSITIONS)
(FLEET MANAGEMENT SERVICES)
POSITION CODE: 240491
TASK Grade 9 (R342 348 – R475 956 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
Qualifications and experience required:
- Qualified motor or diesel mechanic.
- A valid Code EC driver’s licence.
- One to two years’ relevant work experience in heavy plant/vehicle inspection.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
- Good report-writing skills.
- Good organisational, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
- Analytical and technical skills in assessing, understanding, and delivering business requirements.
- Be highly health and safety conscious.
Job purpose:
Inspecting vehicles/plants prior to and on completion of maintenance/repair work applying technical and investigative procedures to assess conformity with quality standards and safety requirements, providing options and/or complaints and attending to specific fleet repair/ maintenance sequences, responding to queries and/or complaints and attending to specific clerical reporting and record-keeping requirements in order to ensure service standards are maintained contributing to the availability of an efficient and reliable fleet to enable execution of activities.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
