Qualifications and experience required:
- Traffic Officer’s Diploma - ITO-3.
- Computer literate – Office applications.
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- Four to five years’ experience.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring sequences associated with the implementation of statutory Laws and By-laws related to Traffic Legislation and Traffic Safety and the execution of warrants of arrest.
- Incumbent will be responsible for coordinating specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators.
- Incumbent will be responsible for identifying the Traffic Operations strategy with respect to service delivery and defining, implementing and monitoring the short-term plans/ objectives.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet critical/conflicting deadlines.
- Must have good presentation, report writing and supervisory skills.
- Must have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Job purpose:
Managing the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting sequences of outcomes associated with plans and programmes designed to accomplish key service delivery objectives with respect to traffic control, communication and law enforcement operations and execution of warrants of arrest, through the coordination of operations associated with the enforcement of all applicable Laws and By-laws in order to ensure the risk of damage to property and/or loss of lives is limited through prompt and efficient execution of sequences and applications.
Special conditions to this position:
- Required to work in all weather conditions.
- Incumbent must be physically fit and able-bodied.

- Grade 12 qualification.
- Registered as a Peace Officer.
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
- One to two years’ relevant experience.

- Must have sound communication skills.
- Will be tested for the above competencies as part of the selection process.
Job purpose:
Performing activities/tasks associated with the provision of a traffic service by monitoring and attending to situations associated with minimising traffic congestion or offences causing inconvenience and risk to public safety, conducting investigations, traffic patrols/controls. Enforcing traffic compliance and coordinating and controlling operational tasks/activities associated with the execution of warrants of arrest in order to ensure the minimisation of any risk to public safety or contraventions of the National Road Traffic Act and/or any other relevant legislation and/or laws applicable.
