 INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE
SUPERVISOR: ROADS
(ROADS AND STORMWATER)
POSITION CODE: 8838
TASK GRADE 7 (R245 246 – R340 980 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
Qualifications and experience required:
  • An acceptable level of secondary education and/or NQF Level 3 minimum.
  • Valid Code C1 driver’s licence with PrPD.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Twelve to eighteen months’ supervisory experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • The incumbent must be physically fit and able-bodied.
  • The incumbent must have good organisational, problem-solving and supervisory skills.
  • The incumbent must have proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
 
SPECIAL CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO THE POST
  • The successful incumbent will be required to work standby and outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime; and
  • To work in all weather conditions.
 
Job purpose:
Performing tasks associated with supervising and controlling personnel undertaking tasks with the minor maintenance of roads, verges, storm water drainage and pavements, identifying, communicating and applying contingency measures in accordance with instructions to minimize specific problems/defects, guiding personnel on routine operational activities and supporting specialist personnel with the execution of repair and maintenance sequences.
 
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
 
Fringe benefits will include membership of a Retirement Fund, Medical Aid Scheme, Group Life Assurance Scheme, participation in a Housing Subsidy and Car Schemes (subject to the conditions of the various Schemes), and normal leave and sick leave benefits.

Qualifications and experience required:
  • National Diploma in Public Administration/Business Administration/Management.
  • Computer literacy.
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.
  • Three to five years’ experience in Administration and Management.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good supervisory skills.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable municipal policies.
  • Ability to apply, interpret, guide and provide advice on relevant legislation to the position.
  • High level of attention to detail.
 
Job purpose:
Performing tasks/activities associated with the provision of administrative support (reports) to specific committees of Management and other meetings in the Human Settlements through the application of laid down meeting procedures, for the effective submission of reports.
