Position: Senior Specialist Institutional Data Support: Universities

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Specialist Institutional Data Support will lead data integration between NSFAS and the Universities providing data quality assurance, exceptions management, institutional data reconciliation and analysis, process institutional final reports for governance, and support Senior Manager University Relationships and Servicing team. The incumbent reports directly to the General Manager and is a key member of the Business Operations Team.
The incumbent will have a responsibility to work with the COO, General Manager, Senior Manager and 26 public university data teams to accomplish the performance goals of correct student data metrics between NSFAS and the universities. It is expected that the Senior Specialist Institutional Data Support will be an individual who is skilled in balancing internal management with external demands, prioritizing project and support activities aligned to the NSFAS University support strategy. While coordinating and ensuring excellent service delivery to the Institutions and Students in public universities the incumbent will foster an environment of accountability, excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation among internally.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead and define institutional data metrics for universities registration data submissions
• Coordinate business requirements for internal systems development and changes for processing of university data
• Manage university data exchange for projects; Historical Debt, Closing Out, Adjustments and Final Reports
• Manage internal relationships between Business ICT and PMO to facilitate SOP’s and Process documentation on behalf of the university sector support
• Administering data support to Servicing Administrators and SM University to respond to institutional queries
• Monitor university performance targets for applications, appeals, funding and disbursement for the universities sector and alert the SM Universities to data anomalies.
• Manage core system processes end-to-end to ensure the university data is successfully processed through to disbursement and final reports.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating risks by assisting Business to implement appropriate controls as well as assisting Internal Audit and Risk with ensuring internal control procedures are implemented and monitored.
• Actively participate in ICT/ Business Operations /PMO and related committees.


DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements
• A three-year degree in Information Technology, Commerce or similar relevant qualification
• A minimum of ten years’ experience of which at least three years has been as a Business Support Manager or similar role, in an integrated application package environment.
• Business and systems analysis skills
• Knowledgeable in student funding processes and service management standards
• Project/programme management experience
• Excellent people management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in financial planning and budgeting
 
Beneficial skills and experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the NSFAS Act and the higher education policy environment
• Knowledge of public entity supply chain management policy and procedures
• Exposure to Cordys/OpenText or similar BPM systems.

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS
Remuneration Package: R 867,356 to R 1,021,699
Total Cost to Company per annum inclusive of all benefits and company contributions.
