The position:
The Jnr SCM and Logistics Practitioner will support the procurement and logistics functions within the organisation, ensuring that supply chain activities are executed in compliance with relevant policies and legislation. The role encompasses document management, procurement coordination, supplier and vendor administration, logistics handling, and general support to ensure operational efficiency and effective service delivery.

The position:
The Jnr SCM and Logistics Practitioner will support the procurement and logistics functions within the organisation, ensuring that supply chain activities are executed in compliance with relevant policies and legislation. The role encompasses document management, procurement coordination, supplier and vendor administration, logistics handling, and general support to ensure operational efficiency and effective service delivery.
Major Challenges and Responsibilities:
Procurement Process Support
- Assist in preparing and administering Request for Quotations/Proposals (RFQ/P) and tender processes.
- Source quotations and support end-to-end procurement activities in line with SCM thresholds and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and internal SCM policies.
- Maintain and manage SCM documentation, including scanning, filing, and uploading of tender and procurement records.
- Ensure accurate data entry on relevant systems and manage standard bidding documents and related correspondence.
- Arrange and coordinate SCM-related meetings and provide secretarial support to Bid Committees, including the preparation of minutes and terms of reference.
Supplier and Vendor Management
- Facilitate supplier registration, verification of compliance documentation, and database maintenance.
- Coordinate invoice processing and supplier payments, including commitment reporting aligned with regulatory requirements.
Goods and Services Verification
- Receive and inspect delivered goods and services, ensuring they meet specified requirements.
- Follow up with suppliers on delivery timelines and manage commitment schedules.
- Handle receipt and dispatch of customer instruments and calibrated equipment, ensuring timely job card creation and logistics execution.
- Liaise with laboratories to support instrument calibration processes and revenue cycle efficiency.
Customer and Internal Support
- Respond to internal and external client enquiries.
- Support customers in navigating NMISA systems, including registration, credit applications, and quote acceptance.
- Maintain and update the SCM and logistics dashboard, ensuring task allocation and completion.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
- A relevant National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
- A minimum of 1-3 years’ working experience in Supply Chain Management or related field
- Knowledge in applicable legislation i.e. Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), PPPFA, Supply chain management policies, procedures, processes, Practices notes and Treasury regulation.
- Experience in procurement processes, vendor liaison, and logistics coordination.
- Strong administrative and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.

TOOL MAKER: MECHANICAL WORKSHOP
Salary Range: R 463 332 – R 545 097 per annum (all inclusive)
Overview of the Organisation
NMISA is a Type 3A Public Entity established in accordance with the Measurement Unit and Measurement Standards Act, No. 18 of 2006 (the Act). NMISA is mandated by the Act to provide for the use of the international system of units (the SI) and other measurement units in South Africa, to maintain national measurement standards (NMS) and to determine and ensure the comparability of the NMS. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
NMISA is looking for an expert Tool Maker, to design and/or machine and/or manufacture mechanical components/parts or artefacts for NMISA to assist the laboratories in fulfilling their functions and to support the development of measuring instruments. The incumbent will lead the mechanical workshop and supervise/train others and also schedule jobs and control tools, etc. The incumbent will also be expected to provide technical support within the Applied Metrology Division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- National Diploma (N6) with Trade Test Certificate
- Resourceful and multi-skilled in all areas of mechanical work
- Computerized Numerical Control competent
- Manual Machining experience
- Appropriate computer-aided design qualification or experience
- Minimum of seven years relevant practical experience
- Operation of high accuracy Lathes, milling machines and other general mechanical workshop machines •Mechanical design using appropriate computer-aided design for analogue and digital systems to pre-determined specifications
- Operation of control systems using programming and mechanical design experience
- Knowledge of a wide variety of materials and mechanical components
- Up to date with leading edge mechanical components and industrial equipment
- Basic budget planning and control
- Tig welding including aluminium welding
- Added advantage if knowledgeable in fusion 360.
- Must be able to use a Fanuc controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes responsibility for Mechanical workshop and supervise/train others
- Perform machining of mechanical parts with the CNC Lathe & Milling machine and other machining tools
- Assist in Design and/or machine mechanical parts and artefacts to pre-determined specifications
- Assist in scheduling and managing work to ensure effective use of workshop facilities, thereby contributing to overall NMISA efficiency
- Assist in purchasing of materials/components for projects, general supplies and cleaning materials and agents
- Assisting the workshop team with all invoices / purchasing and ensures that information relating to the Mechanical Workshop are forwarded to the Manager to ensure the effective management of the workshop budget
- Workshop chores (e.g. machining, sandblasting, sanding, etc.)
- Maintenance and cleaning of workshop machines
- Purchasing and collecting
- Promotes a safety conscious working environment in the Mechanical workshop
- Identifies resources, develops project plans, identifies potential roadblocks and develops contingency plans to deal with them
- Oversees implementation of the project plan
- Comply with the requirements of the NMISA TQMS to ensure process consistency and effectiveness
- Address clients needs (both internal and external) and evaluate longer term solutions to client requests

Duties and Responsibilities
- Make copies and scan tender document
- Filling of SCM document
- Prepare and arrange meetings
- Capture data on the system and update the file accordingly
- Upload tender document into the system (Website)
- Perform any other assigned job with regard to Supply Chain Management
- Update and follow up expired documents such as Tax Clearance and BBBEE certificates and SBD forms with suppliers
- Perform the help desk function
- Follow-up on supplier’s invoices, statements, orders etc.
- Document management and proper filling of SCM documents
- Coordinate the supplier payment process by registering, processing and forwarding invoices from suppliers to Finance Officer for payment
- Receive delivered goods and verify
