NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF SOUTH AFRICA FROM 1 OCTOBER 2024 TO 30 SEPTEMBER 2027 
 
In accordance with section 6(1) of the National Library of South Africa Act, 1998 (Act No. 92 of 1998) (the Act), the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Mr. G McKenzie is reconstituting the Board of the National Library of South Africa (NLSA), for the term 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2027
 
The Minister calls for the nomination of suitable candidates to be considered for appointment to the Board of the NLSA. A chairperson and six to eight of these members will be appointed in their personal capacities to serve on a part-timebasis. (Please note: This is not an advertisement for employment). Remuneration of Board members is in line with the remuneration scheme guidelines of the National Treasury. 
 
Nominees must have knowledge of or experience in the following field(s): 
• Strategic management of library and information services; 
• Information and communication technology in the library and information sector;
• General management and administration; 
• Finance; legal; corporate governance; 
• Fund-raising, advocacy, and the ability to raise awareness of the NLSA. 
 
The nomination form must be completed in full and signed by both the nominator and nominee. The nomination form must include the following annexures: 
• A motivation for the nomination, with the full names and contact details of the nominator, explaining the nominee's suitability for appointment in terms of the criteria stated above and providing the names and contact details of three contactable referees for the nominee. 
• A brief statement signed by the nominee, in which he or she agrees to the nomination. 
• A brief curriculum vitae (CV) of the nominee, 
• Certified copies of qualifications and ID document.




No nomination will be considered unless all of the above are included. Correspondence will only be entered into with shortlisted candidates. Should you not be contacted within three (3) months from the closing date, consider your nomination unsuccessful. Suitability and background checks will be conducted prior to the appointment of recommended candidates. 
 
Nominations of persons to serve on the NLSA Board must be submitted to DSAC on the official nomination form in the attached link (NLSA BOARD NOMINATION FORM 2024.docx) that can also be downloaded in the website of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture https://www.dsac.gov.za and https://www.nlsa.ac.za.
